5 speed to 6 speed conversion....

I'm confused!!! If a wrx is 3.9 and an sti as you said is. 3.54 how could you just fit the box without rear end
[/quote]

As in keep the R 160 size diff just change to 3.54 instead of r180 , fat shafts , hubs , brembos etc

The euro/uk/irish wrx are 3.54 and so is STi.

So list if leaving rear end is

Gearbox
Cradle
Propshaft
Linkage
6spd Gearknob
6spd gaitor and console

You can retain 5 speed clutch

If worn then new 6 speed clutch which will need addition

6spd clutch fork
6spd starter
6spd flywheel

Are you sure dave as when I had the bug a needed a box counted the ratio of the rear different and it was 3.9 and I counted the 2005 wrx that mc keepers took the box out for me and it was 3.9

Box could have been 3.9 And then have had drop gears to match up to the 3.54 rear

There was a 2006 or 2005 legacy spec b wagon on donedeal for 1500 euro yesterday can't see it there now it must have sold
You could have taken the 6 speed out of that and sold or broke the rest
And get your money back
Same box as STi without dccd I've read
If so would be a cheap virtually free way of getting a 6 speed conversion done in a non STi
If it works :dontknow:

No bother lads, all this 3.this and 4.that mean nothing to me. All I do know is wont be converting to six speed!!! I thought I'd pick up a box in a breakers for 300 to 400 euro!!! Ha ha

Nope not the same box at all. Not the same strength.

Also uses push type clutch not pull.

And major issue is does not use a in box speedo sensor.

Hence why people dont be installing spec b legacy 3.0 boxes or diesel 6 speed boxes etc.

Can you make it work?

Yes possible. But not worth hassle
