The price of the new sti, just saw it on carzone and no wrx model prices on there. Bit pricey as they are going to be cheaper than the previous model in the uk.
Probably be cheaper to get one across the pond the way that the sterling is gone.

Whats goin to happen to that price when the inew vrt rules come in :ponder:

plus the tax on a 2.5

dam government tryin to kill the sti and other performance cars me thinks :hang:

Tax might be lower :? The reason they brought in the 2.5 was to lower emisions so it might be less :ponder: We'll have to wait and see

Hello Kanye,

The C02 emissions are over the 225Co2 g/km (the starting point for top motor tax bracket) so expect to pay €2,000 PER YEAR in motor tax alone for any Sti's registered after July 08

Cheers,

Michael

Hello Andy,

AFAIK the Co2 emissions will be used to class (both the VRT & Motor tax) of all new and secondhand cars from the first of July next year

Cheers,

Michael

Is that only for all brand new STis or used ones too?
[/quote]

new and used cars registered after april, so any car imported in after april and fecked.

crap, so if I want to bring in a 03 or 04 STi from Japland I have to pay 2000 in tax!

Hello Wetpatch,

AFAIK its July for the cut in, this was to allow all dealer / distributor stock - orders to be fulfilled or to be sold prior to the cut in date :ponder:

Cheers,

Michael

If you bring it in after April then i think so.

Its not gonna look good for importing market once this hits,

On the plus side the price of our classics should start to rise again because nobody is gonna buy fresh imports.

I dont think i could even give my car away with the way the market is atm

Hello Funnyclub,

It does not affect cars imported / registered in Ireland before July 2008. There is only a 9.5% motor tax increase for all cars under 2.5lts which cuts in this Feb

As usual all very clear cut from the Government

This will, in time effectively kill the import market of JDM high powered cars, as who is going to buy and import a car after July 2008, knowing that the car will have €2k motor tax bill each year  :ponder:

In time is will also impact on the current "Irish registered stock" of cars as they will be still taxed annually under the current tax classes / rates (except the 9.5% increase as above) making them far more desirable than fresh JDM imports.

Cheers,

Michael

Wetpatch it was there yesterday with a picture of the new model, they have changed it back to the old model for some reason
