96 wrx correct alternator voltage

Hi, just put a new battery in our jap 96 wrx and it seems to be charging at a little over 15 volts. Seems a little high to me, or is this normal for these cars?
Just wondering if this was a contributing factor to the demise of my old battery although I'd say it had served it's time anyway. Don't want to kill a new battery for the sake of rebuilding the alternator.
Thanks.

mine always shows between 13.8-14.5 on the turbo timer so 15 is high might be no harm to have it checked

could well be my old 1 hit 15.2 v and then went back to 13-14 volts mine was also getting very hot even after starting the car in the morning it would be hot straight away

Regulator is on it's way so. Would explain why car was dead after being parked a day or 2. Thanks for that.

Sorry when you say your old 1 do you mean the car??

Ha ha, could very well be! Did you sell it to a lad in Kerry? I have another alternator there from a v4 type r sti I broke a few years ago. I wonder would it fit the wrx? It's gone too windy here today to even open the bonnet to compare!
