98 Subaru Legacy B4 RS Twin Turbo question

Hi,

I have some questions to our Legacy gurus.

I bought the White B4 RS STi from Gizmo5 yesterday. I have sorted out the Piggyback ECU (Got documentation for the Siecle DC System, but not the Software yet).
It is a great car alright. I just have to re-map the ECU as soon as I have the software. From the settings and what I could get translated from a colleague in Tokio, the car is mapped for 100 octane to match European standards.... Hahaha... but the Japs are not aware that 100 octane are not available in Ireland :angry1:

At the moment I am running her on Maxol E5 + some octane booster and don't drive her hard. The "Check Engine" controll lamp goes on sometimes but goes off after a few seconds again.
Is anyone able to bring a Subaru Diag to the thursday night meeting in Dublin (Maybe Davelegacy?) to have a quick look into the error memory?

The car has a HKS Electronic Valve Controller on it. I can't figure out, which model it is, but it has a dial (you can adjust the boost), a LCD display (Illuminated in green) and 4 buttons. Pwr = Power on/off button, Alt = ???, Mod = Mode switch and SBC=???

I figured out, that I can switch with the Mode button through some setting like: Low, High, Sec (which seems to be seconds or so).

Has anyone a rough idea, how to set the boost controller? I have no manual with it and I can't find anything on the internet regarding documentation. I don't know the exact type of the controller as I mentioned earlier.

Then I have another question:
What are the normal boost settings on a stock B4 RS?
At the moment I have on the first turbo a max boost of 0.9 Bar and on the second turbo (which kicks in on roughly 4500 rpm) max 0.5 bar. Is that OK or is the boost controller just set wrong?

Please advise.....

Thanks Dave, for the quick reply, but what do you mean "...by flash code...>" ?

Thanks

OK... Got that... But please tell me how do I do that?
It is my first Legacy and I have no owners Manual and no docu.

Gosh... You must think I am a retard :D

well on the impreza its two black plugs under the steering wheel down in the foot well stick them into each other turn the key till you get red lights on the dash a long flash on the cel light is 1o and a short flash is one just count the long e.g. two long and two short is 22 witch is knock sensor then unplug when you are finished

Same on the Legacy B4, Two green plugs under the steering wheel, just dunno how to read the codes. :dontknow:

Hi Akki,

It sounds like the HKS EVC IV that I had fitted in my B4. The SBC is Scramble Boost Control where you can program the car to have a set abount of boost for a set amount of time (ie 1.4 bar for 30 secs)....

Its a good piece of kit

I have attached the manual in PDF form for you - this tells you how to set up the controller from the start

Cheers.

Alan.
