98 WRC Subaru Impreza ex Colin McRae

Not sure this was an ex-McRae car... no mention of it in the below...

McRaes P2 WRC car was chassis #3... a 97 car that ran in Rally Monte Carlo.... where as I think this one was a privateer owned 98 car with chassis #21 but that had the Prodrive reg transferred at some time.

A little misleading to be honset and would certainly alter the price substantially. A lot of S5's are coming out of the woodwork these days claiming at some point to have been driven by the man himself.

Current owner of P2 WRC - Gerard Moroney. It was used in the Monte in 1997. I can only find car model pics so far. It was a DNF so that might explain it :subaru: It was also changed to P100 ALL then back to P2 WRC

So basically the car in the rally24.com is not a McRae car. It's a '98 car that was re-registered with P2 WRC reg... as the real '97 McRae car was totaled by Kenneth Eriksson in practice session. The below are a list of all the McRae driven works cars... :ponder2:

The orignal #3 chassis car which McRae drove was re-shelled with P100 reg and is now run by a privateer under a different reg non-works reg CJ 229 XJ. But that car in in the Rally24 ad is a '98 car... and more importantly cahssis # 21... which was never run by McRae... but has the reg of the original #3 chassis car. Prodrive where renowned for swapping regs over on cars... and the only thing that was consistant that would confirm a cars owner & heritage was it's chassis no.

It would take you a good hour or more probably to go through that link I posted earlier. Its very interesting for a WRC head  :subaru:
