i have been trying to get the hang of that thing for about 6 months and still haven got a clue

I've been using Adobe sine the 90's and still don't know everything
It's like CAD or similar software you would need professional training .

Hint: Most special effects can be done with plug-ins (basicaly a filter that dose everything in a few clicks of the mouse)
all the best one's you must pay for!! but type in "free Adobe Plug-ins" to googel and you'll get loads to start with.
