Accident

Neil , honestly would you fix that car? I'd get the paper work sorted and forget about it .

Sorry to hear that.

I know the feeling when your car is crashed and not by yourself... Hope your girlfriend is ok though..

Id consider it baz!!
Id price everything up and make a decision based upon the full cost of replacement over repair
also taking into account if its worth putting thru the insurance or just breaking the rest of the car and buying a replacement

I.e. if a replacement was to cost 6k and i was able to make 4k breaking the rest of the car, then 2k is cheaper than what the insurance hike would be over the next few years

now also take into consideration there's a possibility that you might find a car hit hard at the rear end and have all the parts you need cheap that way

you might have to go thru the insurance depending what damage was caused to public property and if the gards. want to chase tour for that damage aswell

consider every option that's all Im suggesting

just by the pics what would it take to get it back on the road, 4-5k :dontknow:
whats a 03 sti worth nowdays 6-7k :dontknow:

Is your misses the named owner or just a named driver on your policy. If just a named driver is the car driven by her not covered third party fire and theft only? Even if drive as an extention of her own policy does the same not apply?

bad luck mate...that car smashed a curb no doubt ..the alloy exploded...did gannons take pictures? I'd be surprised if your girlfriend isn't facing charges..that hour of the morning the Garda will presume she left because she was drunk.

Sorry to hear about this. That's some mess I'd say there's more to the story than your been told.

On a seperate note a tow truck, winch and yard brush would make a great investment. Of course it probably cost a good bit to ensure the cops ring you and not someone else.

Your insurance probably would have recovered the car for free if they had been called as most insurance policies now cover recovery provided its their preferred tow truck

My GF is fine she has no even 1 scratch, well i own my subaru over 2 years and never ever let me down, i just love my impreza and at this moment i feel like without hand....cant eat and cant focus. I Dont want another car and i am not going to scrap this car. Will do everything to put her back on the road someday...

Ever thought of changing Girlfriend :)

Have to agree with Dagnut, that hour of the morning and that much damage on a Roundabout, the fact she left the car does look very strange, looks like either she was drunk, or someone was driving it that shouldnt be, or you were drunk and smacked it and ran back home to get the sober Girlfriend to say she was driving it. Im not saying thats what happened, but its a very common thing thats done, and the cops are well aware of it

If the insurance company price the parts, it will be a write off, they will see a payout of 6k, and sell the wreck for say 3-4k, leaving them suffering say 3k max which they will hide into your premiums.

You could always go 2nd hand parts route, but id say again you are finished its still going to cost you a good bit.

For talk sake if you were lucky and fixed it for 2k, this day with their prices you have to be realistic and way up the idea of breaking the car and instead of spending 2k fixing it, put it to the breaking money and buy a new car.

would the car ever feel the same again if you repaired it , if it was broken for parts you may come out better off , even something like the box and shafts will make good money as 6 speed conversion for a classic ,

Would have to agree, I'd say the gards will be asking questions.Whatever the excuse IT IS Very strange to leave the scene of an accident that hour of the morning unless drink is involved. I have family in Roscommon and this happens a lot with young lads down there that are still caught up in the drink drive culture. The lads would just wake up in a field and walk home.
I'm not accusing you or the GF of drink driving , just the way the garda would be looking at it imho

sliweczka that car is wrecked and I wouldn't even be entertaining the idea of putting that back on the road. Scrap it and move on.

As for your girlfriend abandoning the car/leaving the scene of an accident....not good at all. Girlfriend or not I would be asking questions as I fail to see how another car was involved and managed to drive away given the extent of the damage to your car.

Shame about that pal, but in perspective, she walked away and thankfully shes okay, motor is secondary here, but have to agree with the lads as hard as it would be just write it off and get on, the more you dwell on it, will only upset you more. But good look on whatever the outcome maybe.

sorry to hear about the car and your girl, as per car she's a write off hands up, you can get a deal with your insurance company, you can take the the money offered and say you'll fix it elsewhere, after she's fixed all you need is engineers report that she's road worthy and the insurance company wont have any issues getting it insured again and she be wright back on the road... hope you get sorted mate

@ Eric: third party cover only applys as extention to your policy IF you have comprahensive cover AND if you have driving of other cars benefits and ONLY apply's to Maind drivers ( Policy Holder not Named drivers). Also, if you have comp cover on your car and want to add named driver then they automatically get same cover, unless age restriction from Underwriter (will need to check policy schedule).

Didn't know that vitalie, always thought only driver fully comp was the main driver for fully comp. I hope she is covered.
