Advice Needed

Hey lads was looking at a BMW 318tdi today for the wife but found out through the previous owner that it was drove through a flood and needed a new engine. Dont know who done the repairs and was just wondering if ye think I should walk away from it or buy it.
 
it probly just sucked in water, and feck the old engine.
suppose it depends, what new engine did they fit?
 
Ok so after a few phone calls I found out they only replaced the conrod in the engine. Dealer has said nothing to me yet.
 
i would bother, walk away, im sure there is plenty for sale that haven't been driven through a flood!
 
if there are issues with the car and the dealer didnt tell you about any of them, then id walk away now. plenty of good deals to be had and if the dealer isnt honest now, what would he be like to deal with if you return with a problem??

just my thinkin anyway.
 
She more than likely sucked in water and bent the con rod under pressure.

If I was getting it for dirt cheap I wouldnt worry to much and id check who did the repairs. Its not a hard job but needs to be done properly.

If the head was taken off I wouldn take the chance as it might give trouble later with head gasket failure. I recently did a head gasket after fixing a con rod and it went after a year on me. My gut feeling would be to walk away.
 
how high the water was would be my concern, that could of been parked and flooded, could have been over the headrests for all you know.. electronics might never be ok after it... think i would do more research, or better still walk away, plenty more around
 
Think youd be better off looking for another one.

Dealer mightnt know about flood damage but sounds a bit strange.

Ya found out the dealer done the repairs themselves was pure chance I looked in the glove box and found out that the car was brought in by my wifes neighbour. After a quick phone call to him have decided to walk away from that headache. Would make ya wonder what tricks some people are not disclosing when sellin stuff. Fcuk wud even wonder about my Impreza now even tho all appears clean and healthy with it.
