have a stanard vf28 turbo.. on my car its a 2.5engine would it make much a difference putting a vf35 turbo on it?.. i was told it would b more suited to the engine??

Yeah would give you a little more power alright, but really depends on supporting mods too, like injectors etc. If everything else is already in place then you'd be much better off going for a bigger turbo again, 18G, 20G etc

Any change would require a remap though

i still have to get the proper spec and mods for the car but it has bigger injectors not sure of size...fuel and oil pump is also uprated..i was looking 2 keep the costs down cos i no some of these turbo's can be expensive

Yep a Turbo is going to set you back €1,000 - €2,000
but yes it will make some differnce but as Brian said you MUST get it mapped.

A VF35 Turbo new, wont be cheap :shock2: :shock2:

Post up the mods and lads could advise you on your options

i'm selling my vf35 for 250 euro if your interested
i would be interested in it but i just wanna find a bit out about de difference first..
wat mileage is on that turbo??

the car is running 320bhp and 322torque..its a 2.5 wit uprated fuel pump and oil pump..bigger injectors (im not sure the size)..its mapped wit a autotronics ecu for e5..
as i sed im still getting info on this car as the previous owner didnt really no wat was done to it! but i no it was built by jomo and also got work done in ecc

If its the same car i think it is, then funnyclub here was the original owner. Might be worth trying to contact him to ask whats done to it

no i never checked i'll find out tho...but all in all do you think tat turbo would b a cheap way 2 up the power reliably?

you are definitly waisting the 2.5s time and urs with a vf28, you must be able to hear ir wheezing like an oap walking up a hill when she getts up to and over 5k revs? that turbo is far too small for the 2.5 in my opinion, that vf35 seems cheap at that money but i know nothing about them so cant advise on em, tdo5 20g would be very nice if you have fueling and cooling to suit, 360 to 380ish on a 2.5 with sti heads, absolute smallest wud be an 18g, think very careful about this and try look into future, only buy the once,
all these turbos are around same price 2 to 300 quid max difference, rather than buy an 18g and try get say 350, buy a 20g and run low boost and get effortless 350bhp, and then in future if you get the mods, up her to max. i actually thought that a 20g even seemd to run out of breath up in revs with a 2.5.. thats just me do, and 20g was at her max, bless its little soul  but next jump after 20g is big one and heads on over the 400bhp, talkn your td06 and md 321 turbos then... there is so much to think of, fueling, cooling, clutch and gear box, management , and budget etc etc...
list your current spec and mods, and your budget and the lads here will be able to pin point your options

yea i agree she's cryin out for a bigger turbo..i looked at the car today it has yellow injectors..i just got a fmic fitted..de engine is a 2.5 wit a sti head just fitted an exedy organic clutch wit a lightened flywheel, walbro oil pump, autronics ecu...how much should i expect 2 pay for a td05 20g turbo?

@kenc- cheers mate i think i'll save up for the leaf blower instead of the hairdryer

Good advice KENC

Yellow injectors if im not mistaken are STI injectors, 440cc i think :ponder2:
so there good for about 400bhp

Niall.

you might also plan for a fuel pressure reg, depending on what power your going for you'll max them injectors out quickly enough

the 440cc could max out at around 350bhp even with the regulator so id go for 740cc injectors and a regulator will futre proof you for a while.

You have a lot of the rite bit there already, fmic and ecu etc.. have you forged or standard pistons? I have my calculator out here now, its blue and has gold buttons
for a good turbo, you wud be talking around 1300 for likes of a td06 or similar that will be at its ease on maybe 1.3 bar and you be up at 400bhp no problem, and probably be another 30bhp still to be got, depending on your engine status, if you have around 400bhp i would be expecting around 400ftlbs of torque...
So we say
@€1300 turbo
@€200 pressure reg
@€500 740cc injectors :icon_cry: :icon_cry:
@€600 map
These are only my estimates, you could always try and buy 2nd hand, if you could get newage 2.5 sti injectors 2nd hand you could maybe get close to 400bhp with them, 380bhp being a more safer figure do i would think,
the difference in price of a td05 20 g would be very little if any, and 370 380bhp will prob be its max, and you will still prob need 740ccs... again i would over spec and only spend the once, run a tdo6 at 70% its max instead of a tdo5 at its max and in future if you want to you can up it another bit
Unfortunetly there is no such thing as cheap power and there is a point you can get to reasonably and after that it just gets really expensive, you are there now mate

Sorry man, to answer your question tdo5 20g would be around 1k to 1300 i rekon  2nd hand i wud say 6 to 800 euro.. but be carefull :comp26:

Gav, i have been thinking last few days and i mite go bigger again on my car so if you are interested and you want to buy, it would push me into selling my current turbo which is only about 4,000 miles old 1,000 to 1500 of which miles were run in period on the new 2.5, and STREETPERFORMANCE can vouch for that and cost as it was his car, ,
this is currently around 420 bhp and 420ftlb torque on my 2.5 at 1.4 1.5 bar. it has an optional large inlet 3" shroud, so that aids spool up, and i have to say its very fast spool up. You would need a to buy a 3" inlet pipe to suit it, which are easily got.
Because it has so low GENUINE miles on it i think it is a great chance for you to buy, even with buying the inlet pipe, you will still be saving 500euro or that. which will buy your injectors or close, i am wanting 900e for it as its basically new

if its only a standard STI 2.5 block she'll do about 380/380 safely.

therefore your plan will have to revolve around this desired figure..

this will include turbo choice to gaurantee the lowest lag but nearest engine limit.. and therefore creating the best solution to your spec...

otherwise lots of lag etc may be wat you end up with and therefore not an enjoyable drive..
