After being let down badly!!

Story is, i bought a second hand set of alloys 2 weeks ago that would save me having to buy spacers for my original wheels for them to clear the Brembo's. On Monday i sent the new alloys to a local shop that refurb's alloys because i wanted them black, and was assured i'd have them this morning. Called down this morning to collect them and the owner is gone on holidays and left no instruction to have my wheels finished for today. So they are sitting in his shop with just primer on them! What the f*ck they were doing between Monday and now that they only have them primered is beyond me. So now i'm left with a set of alloys with just primer and a set of alloys that don't clear the Brembo's sufficiently IMO. It looks as though the Brembo's are going to have to come off the car now again because i don't think enough of the bolt is caught by the nut with my original wheels on!! :angry1: :angry1:

Sorry for ranting on! Just been one of those mornings!

anyway you could "borrow" a set of spacers jus to get you out till wheels are sprayed??

or possibly loan of a set of brembo clearing alloys :ponder2: :dontknow:

Thats cat... probably wouldnt be worth trying with only some of the bolt caught incase it did damage... Would the wheels off the other car fit over the brembos??

Think he has spacers Ross, but the nuts aren't catching enough threads to be safe while the spacers are on

The ones i have on the Legacy now are the one's i was going to put onto the other car once i got the proper spacers! With the new alloys on the road car. Think i counted 5 turns on the nut with Halfords 7mm spacer which is not enough i don't think.

Hello Mark,

I would throw a lick of paint onto the alloys for the weekend and then return them back to the company who let you down on Monday

They could start again on them monday & when they are finished work out your own discount

Cheers,

Michael

I was thinking along those lines Michael but with having to work this evening i doubt there would be time to get them painted, dried and fitted before tomorrow.

I've attached a pic of them fitted anyway. I can get 7 turns of the nut and can torque them to the 80ft/lbs that is recommended. Still don't know if i would trust them or not! Decisions decisions!! :wall:

you feel it if they are unstable straight away, how close are they to the brakes? Looks to me like you have a bit of room there..it can mm in it with no problems

At the closest points there is only about 2mm between the caliper and rim. There is a slight curve into the centre which has them close there but loads of room elsewhere. Pic is with a 7mm spacer fitted too.

I'd go in Monday morning all guns blazing and tell them they ruined your weekend as you needed your car for some show etc etc etc

Mark

What about trying to find a set of bolt on spacers for the weekend???

I borrowed a set of Dan Forester for a while...... maybe if there was someone ya could borrow a set of 15 - 20mm spacers just for the weekend off close by that may be an option???

I have spacers there if you need them. Came on my prodrive STi when I got it. Give me a ring if you need them.
