After Market Steering Wheel

You need the airbag (if there is one) for the NCT and the horn must work also.

Yep , I was going to fit the aftermarket one because the current steering (original) has no horn working anyway.I put new tyres all round on her last week , got it tracked and balanced but the steering wheel is well of centre. Wreckin me head as I don't have the confidence to let her rip with the wheel of centre like it is.

Your wheel is off center? :ponder2: How did that happen?

Anyway, if the car has an airbag from factory then you need one for the NCT. You also need a working horn too.

he said he got new tyres and tracked, so looks like they didnt line up the steering wheel when tracking

Although I had the same problem with a 5 series I had.
No matter were I brought it to get it tracked the steering wheel was always off center afterwords and the steering wheel yoke was always used.
I might just wip off the wheel and put it on again, try straighten it that way.

One other question , how do I get the AIRBAG light turned off ? it's on and I know that's an NCT fail.

I've a sparco wheel and removable boss kit on mine.
No probs with Nct.
Get a resistor to turn off the air bag light it will pass.
Any lights on the dash now will fail the Nct.

try a small 2 ohm resistor from maplins.
should do the trick

Cheers mate , where and how do I fit it?

should just plug straight into the wires from the airbag afaik.
and as graham said above , my last wrx passed with an aftermarket wheel also

if ya take out the bulb and the airbag light never comes on it'll pass but if it's on and fails the nct it'll have to work properly when it goes back!
