id say this has been posted before but i couldnt find it ,basically im going to get my 98 type-r impreza mapped soon as i bought a FMIC and another fieu bits n pieces ...but i want to do as much as i can with my car (low budget) before the map that will give me an advantage ........a fieu lads said to me i should remove the air-con (pump/pipes/rad ect) ....is this a mod worth doing?

Now i could be completely wrong in saying this, and if i am someone correct me,
But i dont think the air con would affect your performance if your not using it, i know if its on it drains a good percentage of your power but if not using it i doubt it'l cause any drainage. it will save a little on weight but thats about it. Could be more hassle than its worth.

Walbro fuel pump's seem too be on a good offer at the minute, €85 with some of the traders, i think that would be a nice cheap addition.

its belt driven,so it does affect the performance whether is on or off!!!!
will save you on the weight but not worth the hassle on its own....more noticable with a few other mods!!!
be careful of the gas if you chose to remove the air con... its pressurised and its harmful to skin and very dangerous for the eyes!!!

dont think its worth the hassle , i am running fairly big power and dont think it would make much difference

Would fitting lightweight pulleys negate this loss?

i would have liked to dyno mine before and after the pullies but didnt happen!!!
could well help to equal it out brian!!
:dontknow: :dontknow:

Leave it switched off for remap. I wouldn't bother taking it off........only splitting hairs so to speak with performance gains.
