alloy wheel size

Petrolheads
well lads,
im planning on getting a set of revolution millenium alloys for the subaru.
but i dont know what size to go for 17" or 18",
there is standard sti suspension on the car, will 18s rub on the archs?
will 18s affect the handling much?
and will they make the car look like its sitting higher if i dont lowering it?

thanks,
chris

think most lads would say 17's on a type r , or any classic really ,

18's ruin the way the car handles apparently ,

as above , i went from 17s to 18s, looks way better
but dose effect handeling

the difference in the revolution rim from 17" to 18" is massive

the 17" dont look good at all but the 18s look amazing, just make sure you get 18" x 7.5" instead of 18 x 8 as you have to run 215 wide tyres on a classic the the 8" is to wide for the 215 tyre and they look stretched and leave the side of the wheel very exposed to kurbing.

i now alot of people say the 18s dont handle well on a classic but if you run coilovers with a good set up it will be prefect, jp ran 18s on his but had a great set up on his coilovers and it was really great on track but if you run standard suspension the 18s then to feel a bit woggle true the steering wheel.

if i were you i would go for 17" oz super leggera's, they will look the business.

thanks for the replies lads.
duffman your type R looked class with the milleniums!
thats the look i want to go for except with grey wheels,
yours looks to be sitting perfect aswell how much was it lowered by?
i just dont want the car to look like its sitting high if i change the alloys without getting coilovers to lower it..

ya lad the last pic you posted with the revolutions looks savage!
thats the look i want to go for.. what size are the wheels in that pic?
i have to login to view the link you posted..
ill register now to view it!

Definately go with 17's.

My type r had 18's when I bought it and handling was a nightmare on standard suspension. I went straight back to a lightweight (6.5kg) 17" wheel and it transformed the car.

Revolution 18" alloys tend to be quite heavy too.... nearly 11.5kg.

17" Revolutions in gunmetal are the way to go. Look great with out effecting anything else.
