And there we have it. Pulled out the connector again to give it a blast with the cleaning spray and the wire detached, must have just been hanging on by a thread, broke inside that black connector so wasn't obvious. Quick solder later and tadaaah no airbag light.
Not too happy with my soldering so am going to replace these connectors completely as they've gone very brittle but it'll get me over the NCT hump which is due shortly.
