Hi Folks my car is mapped to run on Maxol E5 and since mapped I have only used Maxol E5 so my question is if and I mean if Maxol are not selling real E5 would I be just as well going to Texaco and adding an octane booster and if so what octane booster many thanks hope this is not a strange question. :multijump:

Yep, as Dan said... for 100% worry free - and flexibility to fill where convenient - use a good booster like NF.

If you don't do too much driving it's not that dear at about €10-11 a bottle, which does a tank (well not dear compared to damage that could be done).

I've some left from before my recent mapping if you're interested (pm me).

10 per tank adds up, if you have the option to remap it would save alot of money in the long run! I personally would prefer it ran on slightly lower fuel than worry about what stations and where and booster. For me in west cork dont really have a choice of stations here :D

Exactly what I think too Aaron. I do about 30k kms a year and booster for that does seriously add up (nearly two tanks a week as she's well thirsty).

Hence I got a remap for RON95 about a month ago and well powerful and certainly not really worth the extra power to map for higher Octane at near stock engine.

Then again, if I was only doing maybe 5,000 kms a year I might have stuck with the booster as would take too long to get the cost of mapping back.

Mine is on ron95 more than happy! I dont push the car much so even if i was running E5 i most likely wouldn't notice the difference. All short spins for me maybe 3/5miles per day.

Thanks guys how much to map the car back to 95ron will it just be a tweak or will it have to be full remap thanks.

who mapped it last?

I think we should all just get it remapped for 95 and 20% meth! :carexhaust:

Bob Rawle did mine I only got it mapped to Maxol E5 cause I heard it was safer like not for more power but know who do you trust Maxol ? you guys on here are the only ones I trust  and super Wagon Dec.

I think ye are all mad, map the fuckers for 95 accept the slight loss in bhp and drive them on with no worries it all a load of bull

Hi John, Bob did mine too and did it for RON95 straight away. You won't lose much power at all and you have the peace of mind and flexibility you need.

Depending on the amount of time needed he'll charge you probably between £150-250, as only would charge you for his time (and your share of travel expenses) as you already have the license etc. Probably well worth your while to get it done so. Contact him by mail and he'll give you a better price indication - he's sound.

Maybe we need to start another GB post to get names together for his next visit over (I need him to check some stuff on mine and heard about 1-2 others who wanted a map and couldn't make the last date).

agree but not as easy for pre 00 legacy owners.....

I have just got off the phone with Maxol and left a message for tech support asking for spec sheet and ron rating I said I was a member of a very exclusive car club yeah us and that as paying customers we deserve to know what we are putting in our tanks I will wait with bated breath for return call lol.

I reckon a spec sheet would be meaningless because as explained on other thread, the franchises fill up on whatever they find is cheapest at the time and the Maxol head office knows FA about this... so they don't have a clue what various stations are filling cars with - they probably know this but definitely not going to admit it ever....
