another new guy

Welcome. I would recommend the forester or one of the estate models impreza/Legacy for yourself being a family man and all. Some even have decent performance but are stealthy so you won't be challenged to a drag race at every set of drag red lights.Good luck.

I like the looks of the Impreza wagon.

I do like something with a bit of zip. I dont need a fire-breathing monster with tyre-shredding performance, but i do like a reaction to the right foot.
Never having been in one, I'm just assuming any 2L turbo will provide that grin. Am I right ?

A couple of pics of my current steeds ...
Cant find any new pics of the 911, but its still identical.

So the above will be sharing the garage with a subaru of some sort.

And .... the MK1 GTI, its a 1.8 Campaign model, pretty much standard
(hopefully the source of funds for a subaru ...)

welcome along man, love your 911 and your golf.
what about something like this forester http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1976988 its fast, alot of room, not as harsh as an impreza but you still get the sound and its a good price. best of luck with the search  and no one will mind any silly questions about scoobys. sure everyone has to start somewhere. enjoy the club

Welcome Dealgan! Lovely collection of cars you have. The 911 is pretty special looking and I can understand why you don't want to sell it.

I good friend of mine is inot his Mk1's and has a green Campaign one... lovely cars... a lot faster then I ever anticipated too.

Don't go NA... best getting a Turbo if you like having a little power under the foot when you're in the mood... and so long as the insurance isn't a problem. 3/4k will buy you a classis turbo (1993 - to early 2001). You're best going for a UK/Irish car rather than a JDM car... as they are set up for our roads and fuel and don't require mapping. If you've a family... I'd advice a wagon as they are so practical... a little more discreet and... and quick to boot. If you can throw a grand or two extra at you budget you'll get a nice Bugeye Impreza.

The pic below is the Wagon I recently bought myself... just to get you in the mood!

Yeah, the golf is surprisingly quick for a 1.8 with only around 110 bhp. Plenty of smiles per mile.
Horrible electrics though, but i guess at nearly 30 years old it cant be perfect. Have the dash out right now trying to troubleshoot some of the electrics that never worked since I got it !

That black forester on donedeal wouldnt be my cuppa tea at all... too flashy for me.

I do like that wagon Jamie. Very nice indeed  I'll have one of those please !

Denis, I might take you up on that offer sometime. Cheers.

Thanks for the pointer & suggestions folks, keep 'em coming.

Cheers, or, for the day thats in it, Sláinte.
