Well lads iv just bought a gaff in the last few days and the thing is its a bit of a spin out to it
and the type r is just to thirsty to drive every day so iv decided to get a bike iv no experience
on bikes at all and can just about make one move  but im going to learn, i was thinking
of srarting off on a 600 because i hate them 125 things and stuff do you think it would be ok
to start off on a 600 and just took it easy like :D the bikes that i like and have been thinking
of going to look at are the SUZUKI GSXR 600 http://search.autotrader.ie/www/bik...20&SUBMIT.x=47&SUBMIT.y=11&id=200820188865324

and the YAMAHA YZF R6 http://search.autotrader.ie/www/bik...20&SUBMIT.x=54&SUBMIT.y=11&id=200818188740893

i like all 3 bikes but dont know to much about them does anybody know which one on of the 3 is best

any advice much appreciated

Jesus mate if u dont have no experiance on a bike, dont for the love of god get a GSXR or a R6, ul b dead in a month.

Also u got to get a 125 license first and have 2 years on a bike up 2 500cc ? b4 u can get a super bike.

Not exactly right Lee, the new licenses allow upto 25kw output from the engine, this doesn't limit you to 125cc anymore, in theory you can buy any bike you want as long as its limited to 25kw output.

Unfortunately in practice insurance companies here won't insure any bike that would normally exceed 25kw unless its factory restricted

I don't believe any of the bikes you have mentioned have ever been factory restricted but am open to correction on that point.

Your best option for a decent bike that would have factory restrictors in place are the likes of Yamaha Fazer, Honda Bandit etc, etc.

My personal favourite if I was in your position would be the Suzuki SV650, a v-twin that makes a scoobyesque sound - although the styling is slightly girly.

Its been awhile since i was on a bike but i knew i was almost right.

Also if he's never been on a bike i wouldnt recommend a Bandit either. You can pick up some very good 125s and 250s now.

Yeah the new gsxr is just sexy, do tou know of any good/nice 250s ?

@ Norris never let it be said that you dont give the best advice on the site....

U should take a trip down to bike world on the long mile road, they have a massive selection down there. Just find a bike u like then buy it somewhere cheaper lol

Bros 400 about the best compromise...your not gonna wanna do miles on a 600 supersports anyway...bros 400, super 4, bandit 600..all easy to learn on and eat the miles well.

you get on a gsx-r 600 and try to learn kiss your spine good bye

hi i have a 1998 gsxr for sale complete with helmet leathers and boot 1 owner 15000 miles lots of extras i just bought a 4 month old harley v rod

The best bet on a provisional licence for commuting would be a factory restricted bandit 650s, they are the newer bigger engined versions of the older bandit, there's plenty of poke in them, the riding position is comfortable over long distances and the fairing will offer a good amount of protection. i used have one, but had the restrictors taken out... pretty much the best bet unless you want a pissy 125.

Another option would be a cbr 250rr, small, fast, cheaper to run than a 600

Awesome bike.

Id kill myself on the thing though. Already broke my Femur crashing a 125 in 2003. Put myself out of work for 6 months. I promised myself never again.

liking that alright wetpatch

@lishagh thats a bit to old for me il be goin for a 03-06 thanks anyway

@johng that first bandit isnt to bad :? but i think your right i think il go for the 250

paul is this bike just for gettin to work on,cause if it is i would go for a yamy majest 400 or something similar as there quick enough for a first two wheeler if you never drove one before and there easy to drive been auto and a lot more comfortable than a race style bike, they will brake your back and your wrists on long journeys defo.

A mate of mine has a CBR 250. Was his first bike.
The thing is a rocket for a first bike. Wouldn't be too comfortable on a long journey though.
I was into the bikes myself but only got as far as a moped when i got creamed by a car and broke my legs.
