Any bikers here???

They don't make cbr250s any more, you can pick up an old one with plenty left in it for around 2 grand, depending on how hard you look.

If you can, try and get the rr version, hanles excellently and looks great for an older bike, i'd have to agree about the comfort though, but you might be able to get aftermarket seat pads to cushion the ride...

Jesus Matt sorry to hear that..

@DUFFMAN im not working at the moment so its not for that as i said im moveing into my new gaff soon
and my gym and mams and stuff are down this way so i will still comeing down here most days and the scooby is just to thirsty

I used to have a Honda Varadero. was only a 125 but got the job done. Used to love that bike but then a taxi driver went straight through a crossroads and took me out. LOuckily only broke a wrist and badly bruised from head to toe! The mother still won't let me near a bike!

I had a Honda Varadero also, took a spin up to blessigton and flipped it on a corner. It landed on my leg and snapped it clean in half. I thought i had a dead leg at first, intill i tried to stand up. Never again.

Ouch!! When it happened me i was taken to hospitasl and x-rayed, etc. told i was just badly bruised. Went back for a checkup 6 weeks later and then told my wrist was broke in two places and had set, so had to have it re-broke and in different types of plaster for just short of 7 months!

Was in hospital for 5 days. Was on a trolly for the first 2, intill i started flipping out. I lost all dignity in there. Had to get a old nurse to wipe my bum for me after i got the runs after the operation. Great stuff.

Dont buy a cbr 250 , noisy fecking yoke. Having had bikes listen to the lads above and dont buy a 600 cc rocket just yet.

Buy yourself something you can drop will you are learning,if you drop a 600 you think cars are pricey to repair  wait till you need a new fairing, footrest, clutch lever etc etc etc.

Get something cheap to learn on like this Y2K only has two cylinders :D

Its like a off road bike thats set up for the road, great fun and will bounce back up if you drop it.
A mate had one would go to work on it and at weekend go off roading great crack then it got nicked
Hope you have a good lock as bikes are going missing big time in Dublin.
Try www.biker.ie in the for sale section the sv650 is a steel at that price

You live and learn as they say.
Keeping away from bikes when you have a need for speed only points you in one direction. A car with a big turbo :p
Love the subaru's. The flat four Rumble bears some resembelance to a big Ducatti engine. :D

you first 3 choices come into danger territory...........

my first bike was a 1991 kawasaki zzr 400..

fast enough in fairess.

Had constant access to a 99 cbr 600 and 99 gsxr 600...........

cbr prob bit quicker but both bikes quick exit into a coffin or a wheelchair as a provisional.........

i'm thinking its the impreza-micra syndrome...........

meaning hard to downgrade

but would highly advise a 125 in this situation

Dont forget insurance...bros 400 or cbr250rr are the most powerful bikes you can insure on provisional..the bros has 33bhp(25kw)..the rc22 cbr250rr has 42bhp but for some reason you can insure it as group 5. bros is a v twin easy to learn on low down torque you dont have to rev the sh*t out of it..comfortable as well and probably the most reliable chain driven bike you can buy..thats why couriers love um..you wont have any problem selling it on as long as you buy a fresh import.

you can get a bros up too 94 only but the imports have no miles on um...why do you needa new bike to learn? get a bros(bandits are good aswell) drive it for 3 months get your licence get something bigger and faster..be crazy to buy a supersports 600 first time out...amounts to the same thing as a 911 with L plates

You can get a GSXR 600 and CBR 600 as factory restricted but their big money and expensive to drop! Nice bikes though!! :D

start with something easy to manage, i had a GSXR1100, 2 broken thumbs n wrists, broken pelvis, broke 2 bones in my back, broke a knee cap and cuts n bruises. No car will thrill like a big bike but if you have a heavy right foot (right hand) it only ends one way, but at least you get a spin in the meat wagon.
