Any reason to use octane booster if...

-your impreza is standard (on a trackday)
-your impreza is not an import (on a trackday)

IMO there's no need to use it for any reason as the car in NOT an import

But ,as far as i know, detonation can happen to any impreza! That is why all come fitted with knock sensors...

uk cars are recommend to use 98 so if your using 95 yeah you should be using booster for a track day..its what 15 quid a bottle? definitely worth it for piece of mind

Detonation can happen to any engine weather it be car or bike. And loads of cars come with knock sensors not just subaru. If I was you i'd fill it with E5 if you want to be safe, that's 99 Octane, The higher the octane number, the more resistance it has to knock.

Personally I wouldn't bother on an Irish or UK car

If 15 or 20 yoyos can save your engine, i guess i will go that way!
Anyone tried silkolene proboost?

Couple of the traders on the site here sell it...
on the day fill up with maxol E5 and throw
some booster in cant do much more then
that...

As above!
There will be lads sellng Octane booster there on the day, and run E5 for the rest of the time!

better off running on e5 all the time, rather than just for track days, then stick a bottle of lucas in for safety

When you're ragging the car on the track, the heat build up will cause the oil to vaporise and get into the cylinders thus reducing the octane level of the fuel causing detonation. As mentioned above, use Maxol E5 and some booster, Lucas or NF. A knocklink would be a good idea for the track anyway if you can afford it, that way at least you know if the engine does start to det.

No need to run E5 all the time on the road if the car is standard Irish turbo mapped for 95. Just overkill IMO...
