hope to make the trip this year , probably be towards end of july , doubt i'll take the scooby out , more thinking about going round in the ring Taxis to see the track before possibly drivng , probably last chance i'll get to go before saving has to start for the wedding
haha you wont see much of it that fucking yoke they lap in mid 8 minutes probably bring a sick bag be a better idea .will you fly over tommy
flights to frankfut-hahn are very cheap 50-80 euro return usually

would drive over Dec , dont do particurally well in pressurised aluminium tin cans a few thousand feet over the ground , lol ,
the ring taxi really appeals to me , be good to have the shits scared outa me ,
if i felt like driving id rent a car though , would need to learn the track before hitting it in my own car

Tommy you won't learn that track, just do it in your own car, drive at your own pace. That's what I did! Get passo laps with the other lads on the trip also. And then bring a more experienced ring driver as your passo.

suppose see the track would be the thing to say as opposed to learning it , good advice though man , cheers

Few mates and I are thinking of going to Wales to drive through the valleys(as recommended by autocar/top gear etc)then onto the anglesea track for an afternoon. Head off on a Friday afternoon and back on Saturday/Sunday night

I would love to get another crack at a low 8 min lap with just myself in the car !

have to agree with eliroche, to learn the ring properly (which will never happen, most say it takes thousands of laps) you have to drive it yourself at your own pace and if possible get a few passenger laps with someone who knows it well. been there four times as my brother had a track prepared dc2 integra type r stored over there and would fly over regularly for track days/tourist days (obvivously in the good times) and i joined him on a few occassions. seen loads and i mean loads of lads crash there pride and joy by going too hard. if you shut the nordesclaife down, you get charged, if you damage a crash barrier, you get charged, tow wagon get charged, oil on the track etc etc.

all that aside id recommend anyone to do it once in there lifetime to experience the fear, excitement and shear rush of a full lap and getting overtaking by gt3's, ferrari's, lambo's etc, dont see them in clare much!!!! imo hiring a rent a race car is the way to go but beware of the excesses as dagnut said

just had a look there now on Ryanair and return flights to Frankfurt Hahn are 78.98 at the moment very cheap !!
as for learning the track its very difficult to learn iv done probably 60-80 laps and I wouldn't say for sure that I know it and I remember chattin an instructor there a few years ago and he was in the bar celebrating his 1000th lap and I asked him that exact question about learning the track and he said it takes 100 laps to learn what way it goes and that you will never know it good enough not to kill yourself it sent a bit of a shiver down my spine tbh, but I do agree with him plenty of people who raced there for years and have done thousands of laps still get into trouble .BUT and its a elephant sized but it is the very best feeling in the world coming under the gantry after completing a lap and it doesn't matter if it is a 15 minute lap or a sub ten minute lap it never changes the feeling I really would erg any petrol head to do it at least once in your car even if you only do one lap there is a certain sense of pride pulling into the car park full of the most exotic cars on the planet after a lap of the green hell
