Know of two legacys and an Impreza that tried this, the sound is a little more whoosh and whistle, but all 3 changed it back as the cars started conking at low revs after awhile.

they didn't saw the elbow but just removed the box, after a couple weeks they put the boxes back in.

Why hack it up like that? May aswell just leave it off. If he gets fed up with the noise, or goes to sell the car and the new owner wants it standard, he's to buy a new resonator for it now.

Some people will make a video of anything... There was a bypass piece of inlet that was available from an Australian company iirc... So you just removed everything and replace if with a duct that went straight into box... That was 10 years ago lol

I have a AEM induction kit with a hydra shield from INJEN, got it for €140 ... Does sound nice, you can ear the Turbo quite loudly .... Either you will like it, or hate it ....

Thought the hydra shield would only be necessary if it was down in the arch closer to the ground?

Better be safe than sorry, it does rain a lot in Ireland, back in Portugal I used to drive a EP3 with an injen cold air and never needed the hydro shield ...
