Apple Green Petrol

As eathonol actually contains less energy you shoulfd be actually getting slightly less mpg using E5!

Says on their website all their petrol is E5.
 
I tried Apple myself when this was originally posted and the car ran like a dog!! Worse than when i bought the car and was using Texaco Techron in it!
 
I've been to a few of them filling up with cheap juice for he other car... Only one I've actually seen ethanol mentioned was in balinteer, the rest have stated 95 on the pumps.. I'll just use maxol to be safe...

I used apple before and it completely wrecked my fuel lines, needed to be replaced etc, coincidence sone maightsay, sh*t petrol i say! :lolpoint: :lolpoint:

I doubt its that bad now! probably coincidence!

It is E5 , as in it has 5 % ethanol , but it hasnt got the uprated octane levels that Maxol E5 has
 
It's the ethanol that gives E5 the higher octane rating so all E5 petrol will have the same octane rating provided the ethanol is added to 95ul.

That's why I said provided E5 is added to 95ul. Maybe the knocklink is giving high knock readings because the Apple Green station doesn't actually have E5 in the tanks yet. It might be worth trying a few Apple Green stations to see if they all give knock readings.

I don't think they have it everywhere yet... I've only seen it advertised in one garage I've been to in balinteer... Everywhere else states 95ron on the pumps... They say they have it everywhere on their website but they are not advertising it as 99octane..
 
Seems to be better than esso or topaz but the mpg aint as good as maxol . I reckon myself its probably 95 as mentioned above but still better than topaz etc

Its a brand new applegreen station there on the N11 at Blackrock, has written on their pumps that ethanol is added so taking their word on it.

Gonzogickers idea stacks up re lower octane fuel to start....but do they import lower octane fuel here & is it stored seperately at the port? Who would they normally sell that to if they can't sell it as 95?

I think the US use 93,call it 'regular'.It would be easy enough to divert a ship on the way to US,especially if there is millions to be made.
 
The Highest rated fuel in the US is Sunoco ultra 94 which is as you might have guessed 94 octane. All other super plus is 93 octane, super is 90 and regular is as low as 87. Also US fuel is low sulphur.

I doubt Topaz or Apple Green start off with 91 octane (E5 is supposed to add 4 octane points according to Maxol's E5). Surely they will respond to an e mail for details of its octane rating.

Speaking of octane rating in US I think you miss one thing - it's rated in different way.
In Europe we use RON which is research octane number. In US they use AKI - anti-knock index which is (RON+MON)/2
MON is motor octane number.

In general petrol is more or less the same as in Europe - nothing worse anyway.
