B4 induction related problems ?

Hi Guys
Just a quick one to see if anyone came across this before? my b4 failed nct on emissions turns out lambda and air flow meter are busted. Anyway im been told by subaru main dealer that my recently fitted induction kit is messing up air to fuel ratio and this is the reason for both parts going and i should revert back to my original kit? find this very hard to beleive any body ever heard this crap before :ponder2:

standard air box is the best for any b4
tro in an apexi ,itg , k&n filter and away u go but as for it been the reason i not sure ask dave from sti tunning
he be ur best bet

i Think induction kits are on there way out ... bigtime ...

everyone now is realising that the better gains are to be found in standard airbox with upgraded panel filters ...

You'll still have the lads throwing the chrome R-active ones on their 1.4 civics for a bit of engine bling and "Super agressive sound" , but anyone with a semblence of power under the hood should steer well clear

induction kits when tunned for have huge benefits try and find one high powered build out there running a standard box...

Induction kit on mine runnning perfect for a year now. The car is mapped for it though. It made a big difference to the car and the amount of air it was able to pull in and make more boost. I have a cold air feed from the front bumper and the filter is blocked off from the engine bay so there is minimal heat soakage from the engine. I take it your car is not mapped for the induction kit?

If your induction kit isnt fitted right then the MAF could've died from the vibrations as the ones in the B4's and impreza V5/6 are quite soft.

I've heard before that the lamba could've been damaged from the unburnt fuel if the car is overfueling but someone else can confirm if that is true or not..

It does have an effect mate, only had the B4 in for the nct not so long ago, had the standard airbox on and a de-catted exhaust and passed lambda but failed emissions, when i put the centre cat on and fitted the Apexi power intake the emissions were grand but the car failed for lambda

Thanks lads great info  no its not mapped to induction kit.....back to original box for me anybody got a nice sounding panel filter fit in B4? if so which one? :subaru:

How do ya do that sweet cakes? Mark B4 told me a while ago but can remember!

I have an apexi induction kit and want to see if it makes it sound nicer

Cheers mate :653:

I did it by taking the wheel off, take the plastic wheel arch off and there are 2 bolts holding it in place... I cant remember whether or not you have to take out the airbox to get at the top bolt but if you are fitting the induction kit, then you'll be doing that anyway.. It can be done in an hour or so

And it will make the sound a lot nicer

Cheers for that dude, have the apexi in a good while makes a nice noise but it always be made nicer

Another job for the weekend along with getting the wheels done :multijump:

Ideally, if you take out the resonator, then run a cold air feed from the front bumper up the the hole in the wing. I have a load of flexible hose there you can use if you want, collect in dublin

Ahh good man sweet cakes..help is much appreciated

Will give you a shout when I get to doing it..the wheels are main priorty now

Thanks again mate :beerbang:

If you want a hand take it off Karl give me a bell and I'll help ya

@sweetcakes,yeah i know, need to get that sorted soon but first new wheels and get the K-Sport brakes fitted

Cheers Mark,

Will defo give you a bell  So any word on the new shoes for your car?!?

I really want to see the 8 pots on your motor :653: :653:
