B4 Tiptronic problem

I have a 2001 B4 A/T with tiptronic and steering wheel shift. It drives beautifully in A/T all the time and tiptronic when tiptronic works. Sometimes when I switch over to tiptronic, on the display it stays in D then when I start driving 2 shows up on the display, then when I try to change up it skips to 4th, as I said before when its in Drive its perfect the changes are smooth and correct

Any thoughts?

I have a 00 legacy B4 tip tronic too lad, and the display on the dash sometimes goes a bit wierd, showing 4th gear when you're actually in 2nd or 3rd...... are you sure that it's not just the display that's faulty or is the car actually in the gear the display says it's in?

yeah checked it again this morning, your right thats whats happening alright, still very annoying sometimes though

only thing is when this happens it never shows 1st and 3rd. weird!

i find it weird ,why do they only have 4 speed in manual mode with triptronic??
