Just when I thought nothing else could go wrong...
I got check engine light,ABS light and battery light come on on the way to work this morning.
Anyway there is a belt under the alternator in ribbons.
My new legacy is turning into a horrible nightmare.

no way get her to a garage for a service asap man and get her serviced the last think ye want is the engine to go bang. some cars drive ye mad at the start but it'll be fine.

I would get a full diagnostics done...firstly that belt is covered under warranty..I'd have that back up there

You only just recently bought that from a garage,
That's digraceful sell a car with something visably screwed,
I imagen they told you it was fully servised when you boughht it, surely they should have spotted that!
I would bring it back to them and get them todo a full service "again"
In the mean time as johnny said, pick up a new belt in halfords or somewhere and fit it yourself, You don't want that snapping on you all of a sudden!
Sorry for your troubles man!
Also mention to the car sales man that you are part of of 600 member car club who have bought a lot of cars of him in the past, and we are all waiting to see how he treets you!

i have one here i think, iv a timing belt and a small one that came with it.
if its the one your after and your stuck il send it up. its a genuine one.

Thanks for the offer Sean. The work should be covered by the garage so they can take care of it. If they give me hassle I will get back to you.

The belt thats broken is the one on the alternator pulley.

Sorry to hear about all the trouble with the new car Andy :icon_sad:

Any joy getting the garage to sort it all out??

Not sending it back to garage stephen. Its going straight to Dave at STi Tuning to be looked after properly. No point sending it back to garage when all they will do is send it off somewhere. I'd rather it went to Dave and while its there its getting service stuff done aswell.

A lad with one in limerick had exactly the same thing bout a month back-they just seem to shred this belt when its getting a bit worn. :dontknow:

I won't get down over it Andy. Nothing serious has happened to i yet and I wouldn't say it will now you are getting her looked at. One the belts pullies and tensioners are all looked at I'd say she'll be fine. The body looks 100% strate and the service will sort the engine so no worries. Just teething problems mate.
