Best driving road

So the sun was up yesterday, perfect excuse to go for a long drive. Headed down the M9 flat fast not too much traffic, opened up the bug and it delivered. Went across to gorey a lot of traffic back up the M11 turned off for Arklow into Avoca this where it all changed.
The road between Avoca and Laragh just brilliant 2nd-3rd gear humps and hollows, hairpin turns, corners on top of humps, magic. So good I turned around to do it the opposite way. Which of course meant the third run through to head for home. :changinggear: Make sure herself is into zero gravity when she isn't expecting it. :multijump:
The day was finished with the glorious Wicklow gap. Sunny day, full tank of fuel, fantastic.
Just wondering where are the other best roads in the country that would be worth a drive to have a go. :scoobyblue_1:

N81 is fantastic. A joy to live on it. I'd no that road blindfolded by now.

I'd recommend heading up to Sally's gap by ye N81, then come to a junction and head to bray, then follow he signs to enniskerry and it'll lead you to powers court. It's fantastic ring road and great site. Although be careful on some, could bounce the car into a ditch.

Saw you parked up in Wicklow gap car park yesterday kmboost. I was heading over it myself yesterday coming home from Dun Lavin.

I enjoy Cavan roads. Nice bit of air. Also Northern Ireland is great due to lack of points. There are great rolling roads on the way to the giants causeway.

if your back around this way i suggest heading from arklow to avoca via woodenbridge , at woodenbridge turn left for Aughrim , nice tight twisty road along the river with plenty of humps and hollows , turn left into aughrim and follow the main road to ballinaclash , its a nice twisty road in places with several good straight streches , one straight is a mile long with bumps to beat anyones bravery and runs into some lovely twisty bits that really tighten up and test the cars grip , from ballinaclash into rathdrum and onto laragh , it drains the tank in my car fairly quickly with spirited driving but i'd say drive it once easy to get a feel for it and then have a crack at it , you will have some smile on your face , there is another few roads that were part of the circut of ireland around woodenbridge years ago that are in bad repair and wouldnt suit a road car at the minute but would be some buzz to drive hard on , learned to drive on a few of them (under 17) in a 1275 gt mini clubman ,

Missed ye Jamie, had to pull in to fuel the body. But if the weather plays ball will definitely be back on them roads.

Must stick up a copy of the 5 counties run a few weeks back.

Some excellent roads would need a co pilot though

Family day out for myself in the better halfs car.. So wasn't a spirited drive. Some great roads up this way. The Roundwood to powerscourt road (R755) via Djouce forest is a cracker. Your car looked well.

Ah Tommy . First abusing poor anto and now cavan men..... :naughty:

You should really compare them to our baptism money , nobody is getting near that . But yes there are some nice roads for letting it on safely . One of mine is from Shercock to Ballybay which is in co monaghan . Then Ballybay to Monaghan. It flows lovely to carry speed through the bends . Nice when you come across a few bikers and everyone is moving on rightly but safely.

down in west cork theres a couple of lovely roads through the mountains. Also if you go across into kerry its the same. some great driving roads. lot of them would be rally stages aswell so.

Wouldn't want to be anywhere else on a nice sunny Sunday evening. :scoobyblue_1:

a map with all these routes highlited would be great ! dunno if its possible :dontknow:

I was on the Wicklow Gap yesterday too, love that road. Even in the diesel Civic (its pretty quick up there by the way - tommy will vouch for that!) and wife & baby in the back the bends are just so smooth that you can travel at plenty of speed to enjoy yourself.

Agree with original post about road from Laragh to Rathdrum also...although those yumps can be taken flat in 4th if you grow a pair :smokin: Or if you're trying desperately to keep up with just nick when he had his spec c

yeah , never seen a car like nic's to dissappear in front of me that time up there .
