me and my da are thinkin of tuning the impreza in the summer what would be the best value for money in my price range. was thinkin of a remap exhaust and uprated discs and brakes other than that i dont really no. does anyone no wat is involved in a stage 1 tune for an 01 sti, what money and what bhp would be achieveable.
cheers in advance lads

I wouldn't waste my money changing the standard Brembo calipers, just get some good pads (Ferodo DS2500) some good fluid (Motul RBF660) and maybe some Goodridge braided lines and the brakes would be savage

As for what tuning, I'd go with an inducton kit or a decent panel filter (K&N or Cosworth), A decat bellmouth downpipe, A walbro fuel pump and a remap.

Its all about getting the air in and out as quick as possible while having the right fueling to support the greater volume of air

id go for braided brake pipes ,anti lift kit ,uprated pads ,remap and fuel pump and an exhaust if budget allowed will make a great difference to your car

Hello Chris,

I would go for a turbo, fuel pump, remap, induction / panel filter and de-cat exhaust

You will be hard pushed to get it all for €2K, but you may pick up some secondhand bits and not be too far from your top spend figure

From the above you should get the biggest gains on your budget

Cheers,

Michael

Standard brakes on a new age Sti are very good, i wouldnt bother doing anything with them, i wouldnt touch suspension either, for 1500 to 2k you wont get to do eveything, you can touch on each area or imo, concentrate on one specific area, and that would be more power and making best of what you have.
Good exhaust, plugs, fuel pump, panel filter and remap will make a new car of her, and will dispose of that 2k for you nicely.. if you can get E5, well then id map for it. Those would be what id consider the first steps on tuning ladder and probably the cheapest big gains that can be got... I dont think you can get launch control or anti lag on standard ecu, and i wouldnt even consider buying an ecu just so i could have them, complete waist of money.

Uprated panel filter, uprated plugs, walbro fuel pump, decat exhaust and remap should keep ypu happy

totally agree for nice power gain and should be within budget , keep brakes standard and change pads .....sorted :subaru:

cheers lads thats great advice il put good pads and brake lines on her, prob exhaust, remap, panel filter. i would love my budget to stretch to a turbo aswell but wud u not have to upgrade the injectors to handle the extra power of a turbo or are the standard injectors upto the job.

It would depend how big your going with the turbo or what kind of power you would want to push for, Ideally your better off changing the turbo and injectors together.

But as I said, get some prices first to see how far you'll get on budget
