is the dccd the same as the diff control in the type r? dccd in new age cars has an auto function which selects the torque split itself alot more civilised than the type r set up

no bother man also any car with ppp, a remap and exhaust on a standard car will acheive similar power levels

Just picked up a wr1 a few weeks ago has dccd same as my last type r, only differ is it starts with the diff in auto setting, as for the power it's a ppp with 320 bhp standard.
The type r was faster (just)but it had some stuff done to it.
The new one it just as quick but is comfy nice to drive and has 6 speed it's a gift on a long run.

Billy i wouldnt think of a WRX, The STI will be so much more a car with 6spd and Brembos, Suspension etc etc, and coming from a TypeR you will only be dissapointed.

All the Jap cars will have the 270 bhp cap on them.
The Uk sti will have the benefit of higher bhp models, no need for remap and some probably longer gear ratios.
The Wr1 for some reason i always thought was 340bhp, but whether its 320 or 340 its the most powerfull factory car, have to admit i am not a fan of the colour which is a pity.
Think then there was a UK300, that had a bit of a weird looking rear spoiler
There is the PPP cars that are i think around 300 aswell
Then there is The prodrive model, that has Exterior and interior cosmetic and suspension difference like Erics.
Then you have the Normal STI UK, think these are 270-280bhp standard.

All the Uk models will have benefit of not needing to be mapped.
My only worry in your case Billy would be coming from the Type R, If you loved the type r feel, or Classic STI feel, you are going to be a bit dissapointed with the Newage STI, i found them a bit slow when i got into one, due to there weight.
But i did have an Ra bugeye, and that was everything the same as a Type R, LOVED IT
So if it were me i would be looking at picking up a SPEC C or an RA, they will give you the same buzz as the Type R, And even do they could do with a map, the driving experience and rareness of them is defo worth it in my opinion

standard jdm spec on wrx is usually different turbo and they have a less restrictive exhaust and are mapped on 100 octane fuel, sti jdm is a completely different car to drive than a uk because standard jdm blob eye sti has avcs ,twin scroll turbo different suspension, different gear ratios {gears are shorter}they are far more edgy car and are also mapped for 100 octane so any jdm needs to be mapped uk cars dont but imo jdm cars are far closer to the type r than a uk would be but has the advantage of sixth gear to make long journeys better ,so to answer your question jdm and ppp power difference is that ppp would be more powerfull but jdm is a better drivers car imo

If you have the fund's I'd deffo go spec c but they are getting good money for a clean one.

There is also a Soldberg V limited Blob Eye that is a rare enough car aswell, think there was one for sale i think up north somewhere a while back.

JDM is a fancy way of saying its a Jap import
PPP is Prodrive Performance Pack, this is a power upgrade that could be got on you new Impreza in the UK for i think couple of grand extra

this 280 bhp cap thing on jdm cars is a myth its just a gentlemans aggrement within jap car manufacturers not to advertise more then 280bhp
there have been plenty of sti/evo/skyline ect rolling roaded out of the factory with way more then 280bhp
