Blob eye

How's it going lads, I've been waiting to buy a Subaru for a while now and I should hope to have one by October. I've been watching the usual sites and on here but I'm still finding it hard to grasp realistic prices on them. I'd be interested in 03 STI Spec C mainly but others may tempt me, even the type r I could be persuaded with. Can any of you give us some info on the price range I would be expecting to pay on lets say between 02-05 STI? Has to be STI.

Thanks

Brads

Also some additional info what to look out for and such information I'd be grateful for too please. What to stay away from and that.

I've only seen 1 03 spec c for sale in the country recently and it was a complete and utter bag of shite.

Typical prices would range from €5-6k to about €10k.

If you can go for a widetrack model in the 04/05 cars and if you can find one, I'd go jap rather than UK. But widetrack jap blobs are rare enough on the ground here.

Thanks for the reply. I seen two on Donedeal over the summer for 8k each, thats what interested me in them. Blob eye STI would be my primary car but I am open to others so aslong as they are Jap and STI.

As Robbie aka Sweetcakes said... look for a JDM widetrack Blob if you can. I'd rule out the Type R idea now as they've become near impossible to find in good condition in this country.

Thanks for the replies lads. Can you explain the difference on the widetrack models? Its very hard finding some info on them. I'm a newbie to Subarus so any information helps. I've been following a 05 STI UK model for 8k, but I'm not sure too much on the differences between the Jap and Uk models. Only thing I've read was the gear ratios are longer on the Uk model.

We have JohnM past owned 2002 STi JDM Prodrive Edition in our ownership.

93KM in total. Pristine.

We are doing a full 100 photo gallery rebuild on her.

Will be area e6250.

In comparasion a rebuild of this nature would be e3500.

Will also be mapped etc.

Widetrack blobs are 15mm wider on each side at the rear.

Wheel PCD (stud pattern) is 5x114.

You will see the plastic arch lips on the rear arches to indicate its a wide track model.

You will find it hard to get a jap wide track i think, I only know of 1 thats a standard jdm sti, the others are spec c models.

A UK model will have longer gearing and a single scroll turbo compared to the jdm models with twin scroll turbos. I believe the cams are more aggressive on the jdm models too. That goes for both wide track and non-widetrack blobeyes.

Thanks Sweetcakes your help is much appreciated. Learned more from yourself on this than I did googling it on my own, thanks.

I'm intrigued Dave, might be interested, a blobeye would be preferred but if its just had alot of work done it might be of interest.

Plan is 1-3 weeks, have a thorough search, then go for what I want.

been up for sale on and off over the last few months and if its the same car that i think it is , an extremely talented panel beater/painter owned it , not saying its had a smack or anything but be vigilant , very cheap also ?

A girl owner it seems. I do have my own very talented panel beater/painter and a mechanic to come with me to assess it. I thought it might be cheap for a Jdm but turns out it was just an original Irish car. I asked had it had any smacks, she never said but call back tomorrow. Thanks for your info Tommy it's very much appreciated. I have to admit this is such a great site, ask a question and you get an answer with no messing, thanks lads.

Ask why there is no stickers on the fog light covers. Could be another indication of a crash

i dont have the fog light cover decals either , but i removed them as i prefer the cleaner look so maybe not a great indication as 2 accident damage :dontknow: :dontknow:

Yep and it's the first of its kind to pop in a while (As in a Jdm blobeye). Just hope the mileage is right with it, I hate when they don't include it. Feel like they're hidin something.

Theres a 05 blob sti wide track for sale in subaru garage in wexford for that kinda money its not jdm spec tho..can give u his number if interested ive bought all my scoobies from him...

Looks a nice car, I'd ask for more comprehensive pictures before travelling all that way. Engine bay, boot. See how up front he is to save you going all the way up there to find he's a no-show or not answering his phone.

Also, the scoop has been painted, the bars are left plastic as standard, might mean nothing but worth taking note of.
