lads i got a phone call a while ago from a lad who bought a blob wrx few weeks ago... he swapped his 530d for it... the owner told him a new engine was put in it bout 3 months ago, and now its gone again... he want to put another in it now and was wondering where to start looking.... it was the bearings that went last time and this time.... any help appreciated...

he would be as far on rebuilding it rather than getting an second hand engine I think and then get it mapped for 95

secondhand engines are to much of a risk being honest there a false economy as dec says rebuilt it and at least he will know what he has  or else larsti on here was beaking a blob i  thing be worth a try

ya i tried to explain that to him as he said he was goin to keep it... any idea how much a rebuild would be....just so i can give him a figure... he was saying the last owner said the engine cost a grand...

depends on damage.

as in melted piston or big end etc.

and then only strip down to see damage. piston scoring, cylinder wall scoring, scoring on cams etc etc.

Anywhere from 2250-3250 for oem.

upto skys the limit.

i just text him there with the info and he wont do that either.. lars is sti`bug and he has wrx blob.........

@dave he said big end... both times... i gave him your number when he was first thinking buying it and he said he was talking to you... he from nenagh

yes recall a call.

the big end failing both times doesnt mean anything. That figure could be 5 times in a row.

The second engine could be from a 220k mile engine from a 99 forester for all we know.

3 grand budget to put a second hand engine in is crazy.

Waste of time unless a super well kept low mileage car engine comes from.

I have a bug engine with 40 k on it from an irish car , just needs a timing belt and a couple of pulleys to finish. Had valves replaced but shelved it and never got around to finishing it.
