BMW 1M Stolen in 3 mins Video

The got a blank key fob, accessed the OBD connector and recoded a key.

Now, how did they get a blank BMW key fob? Had to be an inside dealer job????

enough people will and can make you a blank keyfob over here. or you could just buy them from china where you can get ANYTHING reverse engineered for next to nothing.

Yeah it was. This has all resulted because of the deregulation of main dealer servicing. Certain features like blank keys etc that used to be main dealer only ,now by law, have to be available to independents

not high end , but it is funny to see some peoples faces when they lock keys in car and need it opened , and see how quickly it can be done .

@ andy , its funny whats available on the interweb , as the lads said nearly anything !

I locked my keys in my car at the lakes this year and within a minute and a half of realising where they were i had them back in my hand, new age imprezas are one of the easiest cars to get into , no need for any tools, 4 hands was enough. Its scary. :shock2:

Said it before the biggest deterrent, ask any car thief is a combination of steering lock and big ass motorbike chain.
It can be got around be hacksawing the wheel or removing steering gear nob etc but the more time it takes, the less likely they are to even try...

Jesus could have done with you a while back, i had keys in ignition in position 2, closed the door and the clifford locked up, and then battery went dead.

if you dont mind the alarm going off (i.e your not robbing the car) then newage imprezas are one of the easiest cars going to get into without doing any damage to the car at all.

Alot can be said for a GPS tracking device. €180-200. i have had one from the time i had my second car and i transfer it to every car i have had since. pain in the gap to install and wire up if your going to do it properly so it cant be spotted or found easily but well worth it. plus tell the insurance company you have it and they will love it and hopefully do you a favour, got me 30 euro off

That's scary stuff. Public castrations on guilty car thieves would be a nice deterrent. Agree with the comments about layering the security, no one feature is gonna save a car, best thing to do is have as many layers as possible (including shed/house etc.) With how high tech cars have gotten, it introduces a whole new group of thieves into the game and new enabling tools and technologies.

Them lads were pro's some balls looking at how cool they all were id say that M1 was stolen to order into a container onto a ship and gone... Big durty lock and chain for me and allways has been :new_2gunsfiring_v1: you can place it around a momo new age steering wheel so it needs to be cut in two places before they can take it two cuts takes time and would put anyone off trying to lift it... Or an old school fuel cut off switch/valve placed inside the car very cheep and easy todo and very effective...

Surely a Clifford with proximity sensors would have made life difficult? A dog? A security post? security gates? The only problem then is when you wake up and it's 3 verses 1!!! If you can afford a 1M and 3 cameras at the front of your gaff, you can afford all of the above.
