howdy all, having a bit of bother with different boost latley,
normally my rs boosts to 12 psi but over the last 2 weeks or so it seems to only boost to 7 psi through 2nd,3rd and fourth gear :ponder2:
now it doesnt happen all the time but when it does you can actually feel that the car is under powered......
ive checked all hoses around the turbo for splits etc and they all seem to be okay.....
so does anyone have any idea what could be causing this to happen :dontknow:
cheers

Might be the boost solinide letting you down, think they can be cleaned, :ponder2:
but you should try another one from another car to rule that part out,

cleaned out the boost solenoid a few months back and all the hoses aswell....

i had this problem awhile back and my actuator had become loose so it wouldnt open, there 3, 8s or 10s mm bolts hold it on just check there not loose.

checked the bolts and there all tight, would fitting a boost controller solve the problem :dontknow:
a mate has 1 on his wrx with 2 different settings (hi and low) and my rs feels like its switching from hi to low boost kind of like when he switchs his wrx to hi or low....
am i making sense :ponder2: hopefully i am

i would nt fit a boost controller as it will just cover the problem

if the car was boosting fine for awhile and now its not there a problem, it dint need a boost controller before so why now.

it could be a few things, boost solenoid, you could try someones else to see.

are you gettin any blue smoke on start up or under heavy exceleration?is the turbo old?

the turbo is fine no smoke etc....changed the turbo about 2 years ago to a td05h with 30k on it......
only done about 10k since......
ill just get it looked at during the week.....
cheers  :subaru:

Did you fix your boost brob,as the same thing is happening to me a the mo :wall:

have to book it in to get looked at during the week, ill keep ya posted............

right so took a half day from work and got a mate to have a look at the car.....
he found that the hose that goes from the bottom of the boost solenoid to the air resonator box was after coming loose somehow
and half breakin off the little pipe/nipple bit at the bottom of the box, which was causing air to leak out or whatever .....
so he super glued the crack and hose in place for the time being and shes boosting fine again.....
thank fook

anyone know where i can get 1 of these resonator boxes :dontknow: seen a few secondhand ones on ebay for 20 sterling.....
would anyone have one thats goin to the agm :dontknow:

Ha Ha thats funny now cos i spoted that on mine too today and i glued it on, but when i was putting it all back in and its just about to break off as it looks like the hose is just to long, also you know when you fit a dump valve and you have to blank off the air intake side well it was split :hammerhead: so ill have a look in the morn and let ya know
