I suppose, at the end of the day, the only thing that separates us from the boy racers out there is our mentality! Going back a few years, it was easy to spot the difference because the boy racers were driving 1L Micras with bodykits and Corsas with LED lights under them. Nowadays though, you've got d!ckheads driving everything from the aforementioned shopping trolleys all the way up to Supras and even our cherished Subarus. Putting yourself in the position of a guard, most of whom have no interest at all in the car scene, it wouldn't be that easy to differentiate between one modified car and the next. Obviously we can tell the difference between a scooby's rumble and a 1L Starlet's fartbox but, for somebody with no interest, it's all the one really, isn't it?
I've often been stopped at checkpoints, been given the full overhaul and, upon finding nothing illegal whatsoever, been told "we'll catch you and all your buddies eventually"! It's a shame that they have no way of monitoring the car enthusiasts from the children out there - it would make our lives a LOT easier.
