broke down tonight

went the shop earlier all was fine till i try and start the car
turned the key and got all lights etc but engine didn't turn over
no sound no clicks nothing knew it wasn't battery straight away
rang AA and fair play 20 mins later he pulls up checked battery that was grand
anyway he gave the starter a tap and it started sound bloke old school car lover said
he was into VR6 Carrado gte astras etc
just wondering if i was to get a starter would it be something i could fit myself?
gona see if any traders on here have one.Cheers.
