Broken Cable in the Boot??

Hi guys,

I have a 2000 B4 and I was trying to trace a water leak today and found a snaped cable in the boot. Its located on the passenger side of the boot, behind the trim, below the rear lights!

Its not the boot poper or the handbrake! Can't think of anything else that would need a cable like that!

Suggestions?

Thanks

Theres a cable in the boot that opens up the exhaust at changeover to TT. Maybe that. Would be restricting secondary boost a little if it is. Unless you have aftermarket exhaust in which case its redundant

Check behind the wall pocket in the passanger side of the boot near the arial if like mine you should have an electronic thing mounted there that the cable connects to that controls a flap in the exhaust as said above.
My own broke just tied it up.

Ye thats where it is! Ha would never have guessed that. I have a Subaru Sti exhaust....not sure if they are the standard ones you talk of but not having any problems with the boost on either turbos!!

Is that electronically controlled or what?

Dont think the sti exhaust is standard and i dont know if the control valve does anything with the boost as i reckon that would be the ecu job
I have read so many different websites and they mostly say different things it does it doesnt
Some say it helps to reduce pressure on the turbos some say its to keep the noise down i was told by main dealer its for the noise so didnt bother replacing it would have cost a few euro as there wasnt many around a few year ago to get replacment back box.
When it worked i used to here the exhaust note change around 4k but just slightly.
