Then the Subaru will too Ken... there identical from the rear AFAIK... fronts are the only thing that vary and the small Fr wing insert at bottom of A-Pillar.

How are two cars by different companies allowed to be put into production looking almost identical?.

I mean Apple give out about Samsung copying their stuff.

It was collaboration they are not competitors as such ....Toyota owns a 17% stake in Subaru...it has happened a lot in the past....Mazda 121> ford Fiesta for example

Lots of cars doing that now, isnt some of the Nissans same as a Renault or Peugeot cars?

Dagnut,
you keep going on about its a drivers car, how it will drive on track, be more reliable on track, stay with or beat sti's on track etc etc...... Im puzzled on your view and point to be honest.

What your saying , if true will be great and make a big difference in selling the car, but only when its 10+ yrs old and people buy it to track it, how many people are actually going to buy this new and track it? Let alone in a Global recession? So i cant see the relevance in what your saying..

I think this is not going to be a Drivers car as you put it from new, no more than the MX5 ever was, i would put a pound on it being the complete opposite, driven by Woman or slicked hair glamour boys that are more worried about the Blue tooth than the cars handling....
Think RX8, mx5, s2000, TT, Z3, Z4... Who drove them from new??
The Bzr isnt going to be any different...
Size is everything aswell, and if it is in fact almost as small as an mx5 and not as big as a Hyundai Coupe, thats a dam small car and well im afraid this could well be headed for hairdesser status rather than Drivers car status ..

Been following this on pistonheads and there is massive interest in it.. people have pre-orders down on it...I completely disagree with you about RX8, MX5 and s2000..misconception these are ladies cars...all 3 are in the EVO top 100 of drivers cars..TT and Z3 are different...my missus had an MX5 and it was great crack..depends what you want from a car or if you believe the aul hairdresser cliche..yeah women drive small sports cars does that make them any less fun?...S2000 as well is a fantastic drive...just a difference of opinion if this car doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean it doesn't appeal to others...this car will be a big hit I'm sure of it.
I'm not saying the fact its good on track will be a selling point, just a bonus...small cheap fun sports car always sell well when done right and I haven't seen a negative review of this yet..the MX5 sold in huge numbers for years...it's still selling. I understand the car won't appeal to some people but It will appeal to a lot

Exact opposite of a hairdressers car ..this is a drivers car...light weight, rwd, N/A...this would be a much easier sell in ireland than an sti..half the tax..double the mpg and probably half the insurance..all for about 30bhp per tonne less...it will be cheaper to track as well..easier on tires, brakes...no worries about DET or remaps or blowing turbos...it's not going to give you a kick in the back like an Impreza turbo but I bet a well driven one will keep up with an impreza on track
[/quote]

Your going around in circles now, you just said above in your last post that your not saying that it will sell because its a good track car... and what are you saying in your quote above??

Your whole view is based on this track notion you have, who is actually going to go out and buy this new because its Supposedly good on track???... sure the mx5 is a nice little driver... but how old were they before they made appearances on track? and who bought these cars new? was it a guy mad to do track days? or a woman or a suit.... the person that bought them new was very different than the person who ended up on track with them.
And as for 40mpg... ffs come on lads its a 2ltr supposedly sports car, there is diesels out there not getting that mpg, if it does 30mpg it will be its most. Reminds me of the Hyundai Touscons diesels that were supposed to do 40mpg and done 20 to 25mpg

I think the S2000 was just plain over rated as it was a rwd Honda and had a high rev limit.. or maybe i missed something with it but driving one was crap, wouldnt pull the skin off custard, and please dont tell me it was a drivers car and had to be driven hard, im well used to N/A power and especially Hondas, the s2000 was a big dissapointment for me after a the DC2 itr

plenty of lotus car sell as new track cars

lotus use to even have there open days and new buyer days at mondello and they do it alot in england.

i think this will sell well over there and that means we might see a few coming are way

I clearly put dots after the bit about a drivers car..I said it would be an easier sell because of CO2 tax, insurance etc...your right it won't do a realistic 40mpg but once it's on paper as passing the emission tests and doing that figure it will help it sell...I'm impressed that they've managed to get such low CO2 without going the turbo route..so mnay regulations now that stand in the way of making a good sports car, CO2.. pedestrian crash safety etc..the car is not ideal but they've done the best with what they can. I don't see how I am quoting myself in circles I've been saying since the car was first announced probably 2 years ago that I was looking forward to it..originally the brief was under 1000kg and under 20k..they've missed that by a bit, its gonna be around 26k in the Uk ..makes the 370z look like a bargain at 28 but
