Budget

any truth about late vrt charges
if you dont declare the car next day of import you pay 0.1 % more per day of total amount !!!!!!!!

Say hello to the 80's lads. Aer Lingus might as well order a few more planes now as they will need them soon enough. When the rest of the world is on the road to recovery Ireland will still be looking at the map not having realised its upside down and out of date :boohoo:

KN1 might be onto something here!

Pre-registration of vehicles
From 1 January 2010, the Bill provides for pre-registration inspection of certain vehicles to ensure all the requirements for the registration and operation of the vehicle are met.

Late registration of vehicles
Where a car is brought into Ireland and is not declared to Revenue on the next working day, an additional amount of VRT is payable. For each day of late registration, an additional amount representing 0.1% of the basic VRT will be charged.

Temporary importation
Vehicles which are temporarily brought into Ireland for more than forty two days may have to be registered. The pre-registration inspection mentioned above may also apply.
They will continue to be exempt from VRT provided they meet the existing conditions.

Email from Fianna Fáil below, thanks god for a minute there i thought we were in deep sh*t.

Dear Stephen,

Yesterday, in the Dáil, we introduced the toughest budget in many years.

I know that, for many of you, it contained announcements that will add to the burden your families and your businesses face.

While this is difficult news for many, the truth is that these are steps we have to take to bring stability to our finances and to prepare for recovery.

With this budget we will:

Attack the gap in our public finances by increasing taxes and reducing expenditure in a fair and sustainable way.
Unblock our banking system and get banks back to their core business of lending money so that cash flows again.
Protect as many jobs as we can, create new jobs and help those who have lost their jobs return to work as quickly as possible.
Restore our reputation with our international partners.
To help you understand this budget better, we'll be answering some of your questions via our website. It's easy to ask a question:

As Taoiseach, it is my duty to protect this country's economic integrity and lead us out of this crisis. I am confident that this budget will be the foundation of recovery.

But we cannot let these tough times sap our spirit. We cannot let it drain our confidence or the will to fight. We must believe in ourselves.

This Budget is progressive. It is fair. It ensures that those who can bear the burden best, bear it most. It is a budget that is true to our principles of doing what is best for Ireland.

We want people to understand how the budget will affect them. We'll be answering a selection of your questions on the Fianna Fáil website. Submit your question now:

We have great businesses in Ireland, great workers and great ideas. We must harness this energy and use it to fight our way back to growth. I believe that we can do this together.

This recession will pass, and the world will recover.

We are fighting a battle for Ireland's economic security and our future. It is a battle we can win. I ask all of you to support the Government and support each other as we build our country back up again - together.

Thank you for everything you do for Ireland,

Brian Cowen T.D.
An Taoiseach

You know when everything was going good and the Celtic tiger was roaring? Could someone not have come up with a better plan to deal with all this, you know, put some money aside for a rainy day or were they that stupid to think the tiger would never stop roaring?

Funny you should say Aer Lingus need more aircraft when they're about to re-jig current order from large to small aircraft!,they're up sh*t creek with the rest of us!

The recession isnt good any way you look at it,but whats worse is when you work for a certain "european" low cost airline that jumps on the recession band wagon by not paying you for overtime due to "economic circumstances" & demanding you do the hours or face "burning your bridges"!....blackmail or what!,& what compounds the problem is the said "european" low cost airline will shortly announce their yearly results with a profit!

I know we all give out about that "certain" European airline but it's chances of surviving this recession are a lot better than that other European airline which is plagued by union control and threats of strikes.

In the 80's there was such emigration from Ireland that my friend used to say Christy Moore must have been working for Aer Lingus with his depressing lyrics about the state of the country and the frightening levels of unemployment as Aer Lingus had to buy more planes to cope with the 1,000s of Irish people going to NY, Boston and Chicago and other far flung places.

When the US and the UK recover Ireland will still be gripped by the worst recession we've ever seen and I cant see people hanging around here on the dole or paying 65% paye when they could hop on a plane and get work abroad and pay half the tax. That's what happened in the 80's and I can see it being repeated this time round aswell

Once the UK economy picks up and we're still in sh*t here, I'll be packing bags and taking the family along... Arseholes running this country with no idea how to get us out of it.

They are just creating a vicious circle where people spend less because of the recession so the government increases income tax to make up the difference, then people spend even less due to extra tax and the government increases tax's again because they are lacking anticipated income from public spending and continues that way in a downward spiral until this country implodes.

We are fooked!!

too hard for me to do now !!!!!
mortgage and impending addition to my family means i'm here forever in the sh1t heap!!!
