BUY: Car ~300 eur wanted with NCT

Notorious

Petrolheads
Hi lads,
My Peugeot 406 96' died last Thursday (clutch) at Nangor and Naas road intersection :angry1:. Won't repair it of the cost. Need transport to go to work. Searching for a cheap car (with NCT) which could drive me to and from work at least for half a year or more with no major fixes.
maybe some one has something? pictures, links or suggestions are all welcome.
Browsed gumtree, carzone, donedeal... not too much offers...
:icon_rolleyes:

you wont find anything at that money
buy a car without nct for that price and put it true the nct yourself
thats what i did

well, no problem with that if you have good knowledge what could be wrong and if you buy car from a person who you know in person...
You can buy a car for 300 and have problems from bad suspension or brakes to too high emission rates (which costs a lot to fix if possible at all)... I don't want to risk that.... :icon_rolleyes:

Auction in mullingar every monday night! lots of cars, you might find something there for that sort of money. I'd have to warn you though before you travel down that there is usually a fair share of crappy cars on show

Good luck with the search but I know from recent experience that you will find it extremely difficult to find anything with an NCT for €300.. Surely a new clutch in the 406 wouldn't cost much more than €300 :dontknow:

As the Murto said:
"Ideal restoration project". I believe this car has it's history and etc. But I don't have money for that, nor space to do that.

Thanks every one for the input so far... I hope I'll come along with something.

Fiesta for 1k is too expensive for me...

Once again, thank you all for the input
That is what I like about Subaru drivers :] All of them are friendly and helpful! (throw stones at me if that is not true!!)

have you got a car yet :ponder:
its a fairly tight budget for what you want
agree with above fix your own may be cheaper

My car will become a box of metal tomorrow evening. 96 year Peugeot 406, 2l petrol. No clutch. Exhaust pipe with holes in several places and separated in several places too... Clutch ~250 eur, job ~100-150. Exhaust ~80-150 eur... She is not worth it :(

Price range is 300-400... MAYBE more if something comes up worth it.
For this moment I have a chance to get Mondeo 99' 2l petrol, with NCT for around 500 or less.

Today I even start thinking about loan from bank and getting one of the B4 from this forum (the one for 5k Silver)... but lucky us - we can't have a loan yet (you must have account in AIB more then a year) it would be too crazy to have loan for a car with no contract work for both of us (me and my girlfriend).

That is HOW BADLY we want Subaru! ! ! :subaru: :icon_rolleyes:

Don't want to create new thread so will ask here:

I am now waiting for an answer from NCT about my car from Lithuania (about VRT payment). I am getting my car here. If documents are approved and I will go for NCT what changes (if any) I will have to make to my car?
I assume you can register car with left hand side driver seat in Ireland. But do you have to make any mechanical changes to car itself?

I just got myself a diesel cordoba for 400 quid!
Body is a bit battered looking but not to bad! Still has Nct but that runs out next month
Was running rough, but a good service has it smooth as a 97 diesel with 167000 miles on the clock can run!!!!
Adverts.ie is a good place to pick these up!!!!!!
