Middle Lane Hogs
Buying a GC8 Coupe soon enough soon as i can really Anything i need to know about them common problems or things to look out for

Gedt someone who knows imprezas well to go with you!

Check the diff control is working

Main question.. what milage and if engine was rebuilt.. if yes.. what has been done.

Where are you based?

Masive differance between the WRX and sti type R (Scooby coupes are called Type R's)
Best advice I can give you is to buy of a scooby enthusiast,
Buying from the garage, the sales man doesn't really know the cars history,
Have a look in the for sale section on this site,
If you buy from a reputable club member, then you are defo getting a car that has been looked after by someone who knows how to look after a scooby
Very best of look!
I think maybe the closest trader to bray would probably be Ciaran RS/RA, (ASD autos) if you want to bring a scooby expert with you!

Thanks ill wait till i see the right one im starting to buying exterior parts for it next month so i keep to my guns about the plan i know its backwards but it works

You'd get an sti type-r for that price! which would have diff control too and higher BHP.

That car is a 98 V4 which means its designed to run on 102 RON and unless it has an aftermarket ecu it hasn't been mapped for irish fuel, so even if its been re-built it wont save you from future engine damage.

You'd be safer with a V3 type-r designed for 98 RON or a V5 type-r which has been ecutek remapped mapped

I'd shop around lad

plenty to choose from these days,
if your doing serious power mods, probly better to get the sti.

Indeed,
But surely you'd want to start with the better car!!

Mine is the WRX type r as opposed to the STI. Power wise there is not much difference, in fact mine is faster than most STIs. All the extras are missing, sti interior, sti clocks, sti brake, sti intercooler, sti spolier, sti suspension. It also does not have diff control or intercooler spray and does have abs. They come with the cusco strut brace as like the one in that picture. I was the same as you I just wanted a clean coupe, didnt care which one. All of the differences are easily changed
