honest advice to anyone is go for the 2.0NA if ya can insure it..... the 1.6 is generally alot heavier on fuel than the 2.0

yeah i was told der heavy on juice as a 1.6... y is that? just cos its a heavy car and only a 90 or so brake engine? im 22 in bout 6 weeks so i mite be able to insure it when i get over the 22 mark. as the insurance companys see it any young male driver is a boy racer so kinda stuck that way!

insurance should be no bother , was 23 when i bought my 2.0 , was 2 or 3 hundred euro dearer than the 1.6 it replaced , the biggest problem with the 1.6 is they weight a tonne , coupled to 4 wheel drive and a fairly small tank for petrol you will find yourself stoppin at every petrol station , if you get 30 mpg out of one thats the best ya'll get , i've seen the hawkeye 2.0 na for as little as 10000 , can spend a few quid and make a pretty convincing wrx . even if the insurance costs 5 or 600 euro more ya'll save that back on petrol , think scooby is sellin his car in for sale section might be worth a look , seen it at the agm and he keeps her well , best of luck findin the car anyway

I'm not 100% but i think i remember the 2dr's being 1.5. You can make a fairly convincing replica. Biggest factor on insurance apart from age/location and licence is the actual vehicles loading. I would hazard a guess less young lads try insuring 2.0ltrs than 1.6s and the premium would be very similar if not less.

Back in the day when i was on provisional i remember changing from a 1.9 tdi golf to a Calibra 16v and saving on insurance, then changed to a corsa gsi and it went through the roof, changed to an rx7 and the policy went down by 400. Moral of the story is keep checking quotes and find an underrated model you can happily live with.

The 1.6 classic is not 4wd, its 2wd, the 2ltr are 4wd
