Buying An Sti. ADVICE NEEDED!!!

Right so as the title says im going buying a subaru sti. Im looking at the 06 hawkeye sti. A spec c has always been my dream car to have but going to settle for the 2.5 sti i think. Will buy a standard one and can mod it to my own spec then. Im planning on driving it as a day to day car for a few months until I can afford another cheap car to drive day to day. Drive trucks for a living though so do feck all miles...

So what im basically asking is if anyone can give me any info on these cars, anything at all... also what are they like compared with the spec c?

Cheers lads. :subaru:

P.S. Im not planning on selling the car again for a long time, do ye reckon these cars will hold there value??

Subaru hold their value

Not at the moment mate, the recession has killed the car industry...good news for you though is you'll buy a '06 hawkeye for half of whats its probably worth so you'll make the saving upfront.

There is/was a '06 hawkeye spec c that would have sold for the right money, not sure if its still around though. It was a westmeath registered car & was fairly low mileage.

i think all spec c`s are 2 liter but dont quote me on that lol they have lighter glass some have ali bonnets and boots the earlier ones have just the ali bonnet, different suspension, oil cooler, gearbox cooler, the heads are big port and the cams are different, some come with winding windows and non folding mirrors there lots more check wickipiedia and will get more info on them there

2.5 are know to give trouble if modding afaik .

go jap if possible , slightly better car . (open to correction)

more on the hatch back than the hawk ross . the hatch was fitted with a weaker ... apparently... piston .
the 2.5 failure thread on scooby net shows this . head gaskets can give problems but again more on the hatchs than hawks .

i had a built engine.work carried out by eastcoastcustoms and had head gasket failure within 6mths of it been fitted,it was a new block and all new parts, wouldnt touch them again myself TBH

east coast or a 2.5?

Thanks for the replies. Heard alright that the 2.5 gives trouble if you go modding the engine so dont think id touch the engine to be honest. just want to know what there like as a standard car. think a 2.5 280bhp car is loads of power for me at the moment anyway.

Also have a 08 red audi a4 and going to use the money from that to get the sti. what would the average price be for a 2.5 sti, factory standard with low miles? going to get a 06/07 haweye.

Any info at all on these cars would be great.

sorry didnt know it was a quiz lol...i dont trust either of them TBH after what i experienced the 2.5 they built failed and the car spent most of the 1st year of it life after been built back up there under warrenty having the maps adjusted and never got it sorted and when up there it developed problems which needed me spending money outside the work been sorted under warrenty,i had problems with the rotated turbo kit they fitted, headgasket failure, numrous map issues cutting out, each time i goit the car back it had no fuel left in it and petrol light on,car was use to demo there 2.5s without my permission i was told this by a guy who was taken out in it,numrous cds in cd changer when i got it back note they wearnt mine, employees using my car to get to work while clocking up run in miles then i was charger 200gbp for fuel plenty more but i hope it clears up that no i dont trust them or the 2.5 engine :thumbsup:have documents to back up above
