well im 20 years old 3years ncb 2 years full licence. im currently on my dads 01 sti. im just looking for a car for myself one which i can have a bit of fun in. the only thing iv narrowed it down to a glanza but hardly anyone will insure me they are telling me i need to be over 25 for me to be insured on them. would much appreciate help from anyone who has previously insured a car like that at my age. cheers lads

thats good to hear they are up to date with ur car history  il try them out and see how i get on thanks

iv tried them for an online quote they offered 2200 fully comp im not payin that for a glanza. il try ringing them monday and see what they say if its any difference

123.ie are the greatest shower of tits I have ever spooken too. I tried them for a quote for my woman on a 99 glanza - shes 28 with provisinal licence. Do you know what they asked me first........ Will she be driving to work? Yes I said, she will have to drive about 4-5mins to get to work. His reply was - 'Awh we dont insure anyone who drive to work in the mornings'!

WHAT THE HELL! kind of a Lame Ass excuse is that.

Proof if needed of the amount of 180's,skylines,evo's,glanzas, etc that are down on their insurance as something else-you will really struggle to insure anything even remotely quick until youre 25.

i bought a skyline bout two years ago not thinking of the insurance i was only 21 at the time not one insurance company would touch me on it so i had to insure as a non turbo silvia was alright like cos the only time i used to drive it was at the weekends for the few donuts and bit of drifting but if i had a crash i was screwed... you should try and get a GT STARLET one thats non turbo on the log book....

That is the worst advice ive read given on a car forum. Do't do it that way you crash and you are screwed. If you cant afford to insure or can't insure a car don't buy it get something non sporty get to 25 and you shouldn't have a problem with insurance. Try chill got my insurance with them.

cheers lads at the end of the day i got myself a 1.4 honda civic jdm. its great for insurance. thinkinb about a B16B conversion from icetronix when i have the money but im in no rush to do anything to the car. I think il wait until im 25 or older to get anything with serious performance

Had a gt starlet and a glanza turbo wen I was between 18-20 and was insured with Quinn fully insured as turbos I paid no more den 1200 on either now I'm 22 and insured on my scoobu as an sti type ra and am only payin 1900 fully comp :subaru:

any info mon this?

a good mate of mine tried to get a quote on any type of subaru impreza few years ago with quinn using their online quoting and couldnt!!!
apparently someone had hacked into the quinn system and set up the parameters so that anyone could get a quote on the type ra for reasonable money yet wouldnt get a quote on any other impreza!!!!
dont know how true it is...but my mate is 25 and insured properly on a type ra for 588euro fully comp..
the call handler questioned the validity of the quote upon payment but after consulting their supervisor....the quote stood!!!
thats 4 yrs ago ....
:dontknow:

I've had a SS111 celica when I was 18, an S15 silvia when I was 20 and few different things in between, all of which were insured properly with Quinn Direct as turbos and so on.

Trick I used was not to ring and get a quote before buying so they couldnt tell me they wouldn't insure me! When I had it bought I would just ring to transfer insurance. They would say ................"we cant insure ya on that vehicle"............ I say I have it bought and presto, I get cover on it!

With my current car, an STi Bugeye, I did that too. They wouldnt insure me on it until I faxed them proof of purchase or ownership! Just got the garage to fax the receipt to them.

Not sure but I think once you have a policy with them they have to oblige you with a quote if you own the vehicle.

Maybe try insuring something a bit less powerful for while first.
