Can I drive with this broken?

Popped the bonnet today to make sure everything was OK for the meet tonight and here's what I found. The T-piece has completely broken away. Started the car up and air is coming out of it.

Boost pipe coming out of the manifold i think... Don''t know if it'd be alright to drive or not... Have you noticed any boost problems or anything?

It's the dump valve sensing line, and looks like it's tee'd off to a boost guage. Not the clearest of pic's. You will have no dump valve operation, and the dump valve may leak boost if griving hard. The ECU should pick it up as an air leak or similar, and bring on MIL light. It's OK to drive, but don't push it hard. Make sure that the small hose is not going to a boost guage, and not the fuel pressure regulator, drive very gently if it is. Where are you based, I may have something in the workshop to sort you out.

No boost gauge in the car. The part that has broken off comes over towards the battery and disappears into the passenger side wing.

Im in dunboyne johnny. Could I just use some duck tape and secure it back on as bet I can?

Took the car out for a drive and

rough idle,
NO check engine light
NO boost on primary or secondary turbo

great feckin timing this is!

Northside have a B4 in the yard for parts. But that looks like a simple t-piece-remove it and take it to any parts place or a shop that sells fittings and fixtures-should be easy got there.

If your near a Halfords or any decent motor factors, they should be able to
supply you with the T-piece you need.

Tried my local hardware store and Atlantic Homecare, neither stock such a thing. I wouldnt hold out much luck with Halfords.

Never thought of the washer jets, there same size. The bigger Halfords

in Tallaght has the alrite, seen them yesterday when i was buying bits and bobs. good luck.

Just been to halfords in blanch, liffey valley and tallaght and none of them stock such an item. I'm in carroll & roche now to see if they can do anything for me.

I think I got a temporary fix for this in Carroll & Roche.

They had a T-piece connector but it was a different size on one end. Because one end was bigger they had to use bigger tubing and now the feeling of boost on the primary turbo is barely noticeable. Could this be because of larger diameter tubing?

AND A WORD OF WARNING....Dont let them wash your car!! They must have used a fuckin brillo pad on mine! So pissed off! I never even told them to wash it.

i doubt it, You will have the same flow of pressure as the rest of the pipes are the same size, so a bigger end on a tee joint wouldn't restrict flow at all, it'd be different if the smaller end was narrower than the origional because not as much flow would be passing through, like a back log.
have these problems with the gas mains where in previous years when dublin gas was running out of material they used too just stick a smaller diameter pipe in place. Which would restrict the flow of gas for the whole network as it was all built for the higher diameter. So a larger diameter shouldn't make much a difference too the pressure. i'm just talking personal experience in a different field but relativly the same. Could be wrong on this matter,

Id be gettin them to pay for profesional removal of the scratches they put in your paintwork.
I used to have a black Van and some lad washed it one day for me in work trying to do me a favour after id told him not too cos i saw he was using a Sweeping brush to wash another van.
He destroyed the paint. The whole van covered in deep scratches.
I bought it new and didnt have it a year at the time.
Spent the next 2 years trying to polish and T cut the scratches out but only ever kinda got half rid of them :angry1:

Did they replace the whole line with a larger diameter one or just a section of it? Do you have any new pics of the fix?

judging by the pictures above...
is the broken end of t piece not a slightly different diameter????
looks like 10mm or 8mm and the 7 or 6mm is the end broken!!!
could be wrong!!!!

Yes it is. Carroll & Roche replaced the T-piece with a bigger one using a bigger tube. and fecked up my paint work in the process.
