HI lads have spent the last few hours on the phone trying to get insurance quotes , minute i say impreza im turned down . Has anyone the number of a decent company that will quote me in the south east ?

all you can do is keep calling, im with AXA if you haven't already tried them, do you have a policy at the mo and looking to transfer it?

If you have an existing policy... Just transfer it... That can't turn you down if your an existing customer.

this.

i am with liberty and i called them in advance to ask how much will my insurance go up from 1.6 98 mondeo to wrx or sti. they refused to give me a qoute and said all sort of crap that they dont deal with subarus and performance cars.
so i just went and bought WRX, before giving money i called to update my policy, as i just bought a new car. 200eu extra and i am a happy camper in WRX.

A load of bollix really, compared to "ordinary" cars crashed every year id say little or no subarus as its mostly
enthusiasts like ourselfs drive them :angry1:

as i said earlier Merv , buy a shitter , insure it and then transfer it over , only way it will work id say ,

f£cking shower of fookers , axa direct gave me a quote earlier of 695 at 1pm rang back just now to take it and they cant find it . Got car going this evening first time , absolutely gutted . Biggest issue seems to be my full no claims bonus has lapsed and since i ve only been named for 2 years im starting afresh .

If you dont mind me asking swerv, how old are you? Oh and I was told Liberty might be a good alternative.

I was just on the phone with 123.IE... (summarized)

These were my answers to questions they ask...

3 years, no fault claims - "excellent"
31 y.o. - "just out of high risk range, so very good"
Licensed driver since 15 y.o. - "HUH?"
Told them I was American... - "ohhh, okay"
Asked how long I was in Ireland so far, = 5 months total... - "I've disappointing news for you... We cannot insure you until you've been here for THREE YEARS!"

I say, "I think I'm going to buy an Impreza WRX STi." - "That'll cost you serious money, even if you were pre-qualified with your record..."
I then say, "So if a 2.0L car is pricey here... If I brought over my 5.9L from America???" -"Insurance would be lethal, not to mention petrol..."

He then mentioned a few other companies that would likely be able to help me out, "AXA and Liberty are easier to work with"

o_O

At least he was helpful and polite, half the of the agents in America are massive d***heads...

@legacyguy im 35 years young , had same car insured for 2 years with quinn direct ( liberty) but due to recession i lost my job and was forced to take car off road now im back on my feet again they wont cover me as my full 9 years no claims has lapsed and i ve only been named since . This country is going more and more backwards everyday. I look after my car like a feckin baby always have and now when i want to put her back on the road all ya meet is a brick wall. Is there any northern ireland companies that insure down here maybe ?

Weird, that insurance issue is very backwards... Yeah, I was insured with the same company from 2002 through 2012... So I had fairly cheap insurance... But I'm coming here as a brand new driver pretty much... Its hard for me to imagine having difficulties with insurance, having driven cars, tractors, boats since 15 and motorcycles since age 5...

Do they do anything different for married men? In America, it gives you "a massive discount, though doesn't warrant getting married." one agent said :p

there is guys im working with that moved over from germany and Hungary and once you can show a proof of non claims discount over the last few years that should count the same. But in Hungary for example, the car is insured, not the driver so that makes it next to impossible to show proof on no claims for drivers, He surrendered his hungarian license for a full irish one and got insurance then, expensive but got it.

I got a renewal quote from Axa on the Diesel impreza that came to over €800 previous year it was €650 roughly.
I just bought a bike too so needed to get that insured.
Done a few online quotes with AON & CAROL NASH, both trying to charge me nearly a grand for each policy.
Went to liberty then and i've just got them both insured for €1050 - 500 for the car & 550 for the bike
Car fully comp with protected bonus, cover on other cars etc etc. Bike is just third party

24y/o with 7 yrs no claims
Not bad going so worth a shot
