I've been lookin at gettin a BMW 320d for work and keeping the legacy even tho it's for sale! But I'm lookin at one it's an 02 automatic with 140,000 miles on it. That's very high for me but does anybody know much about these cars?

the cats in them give bother. My sister bought a nearly new one in 02 she put 2 cats in it in a year, luckly it was covered under warrenty

i have answered in that other thread on bmw diesels. Swirl flaps is your biggest enemy.

on top of that, you need to make sure turbo is still in good condition. If you do buy one in the end, then change oil and change the filter, which is on oil feed/return lines. A lot of average Joes just do a normal service and never bother to change that oil filter on turbo. the result - BMW turbos dont get oil and blow up.

Chhers for the advice lads. ive heard so many stories about the swirl flaps alright it seems to be a major problem. I am after something for the miles alright. any recommendations for a good diesel?

406 2.0 diesel - a mini tank for very small money. Reliable, economical, comfortable. Don't bother with 407, it will break you heart amd steal your piggy bank!
