Car has my head wrecked!!!

Guys....help!
My car has my head fried.
When driving normal, its fine. But when i put the foot down to overtake or whatever i'd be in 4th or 5th gear (6spd) and when i get to 4000 revs it jumps to 4500. Now its hard to explain! Its like the clutch is slipping or car is overboosting. You can hear car revving out like its not in gear. When it is? Now aswell it doesn't do it all the time... Twice this morn pulling away from junction. When i use octane booster, its worse. My car is 03 sti typeUK. Not mapped.
Any help at all, Really appreciated!
 
Could be clutch Ash?

Mine was doing the same in 5th when I'd give it the boot, and like yours it didn't do it every time.

The fact that its doing it at about 4k rpm would most likely coincide with where your car is generating the most torque, thus putting the most load on the clutch.
 
Same happened with my Legacy, only in 3rd or 4th. Rev's jumped up from 3000 or 3500 to 4000. It was the clutch and it detereoriated pretty quickly, was slipping all over the place after a week and a half! :angry1:

As for the problem gettin worse with booster I'd imagine its because the fuel is burning better cos of the higher octane...you'd have that little bit more poke in it!

I don't mind if it is the clutch as the standard one isn't great! Wana get an exedy organic! But was just worrying it could be something more serious!

I'd say defo the clutch so I would be worried. The lads have covered everything but just to say thats exactly what happened to the RA then I had her. Exedy into her and never looked back.

defo sounds like clutch!!!!
be careful of excedy clutches on ebay if ur lookin there ash!!!

Car is goin fine still driving! Been doin it a while now. Really wana get rid of standard clutch. It gives me cramps!

group buy on scoobynet for 3 piece clutch kit and a lightened flywheel.....
ideal for ya but its 1100 sterling :shock2: :shock2:.

Every one can't be wrong, I think mien is on her way out as well! just sometimes the turbo kick isn't as violent as usual,
It's the clutch slipping slightly at about 3K rpm,
Hope you get her sorted without costing you an arm and a leg!
