that 22b for 29k got me thinking, so the question is . if you were to buy a car for an investment for say 8 to 10 years what would it be . only rule is cost must be under 20k and would have to hold it value or go up . and could be brought out for the odd sunday spin .

My choice would be Lotus Carlton or Audi RS2

I'd buy an early quattro... Not a 20v UR.. But you would pick up a clean 10v for that money.. Or a clean mk1 Escort or a Mk1 mini.

Quattro was my first instinct, but too desirable already so nearly at their premium now. In years to come they will be lots put away and still around so not that rare.
For that reason i would like to mothball a mint RS200 or Metro 6R4. :icon_pray:

i never knew udd get an f40 or a rs200 for 20k :icon_razz:

Was thinking the same myself. Went for something I think will be rare in ten years time, not as if they aren't already.

Hmmmm... :ponder: and an 6r4 will set you back anywhere from 70-120k sterling depending on it's history :eek7:

It depends when you bought it, i suppose.
I didn't know they were worth so much already. What would a delivery mileage 6R4 with no history, unregistered be worth out of interest?

I think Mk1 escorts have had their day, they will still rise in value but it will be our generation in 10 years time that will be shelling big money for childhood dream cars.

Cossies are a good bet, but also the JDM classics will be big. You can already see R32 GTR's rising in value, clean unmolested versions are rising in value.. followed by the 33 and 34....but I suspect in 10 years the 32 will be the one to have.
NSX's are a great investment but quite expensive now..original Supras are hard to find and rising steadily.
Also if you can find a decent 993 911 for under 20k(hard now) the last of the air cooled Porches are in demand now, in 10 years the will be huge money.
On the Subaru side clean type -r and P1's will also be in demand, both are rising now..fresh import Type r's are staring at 7k now in the UK , 2 years ago the where starting at 5k.. a lot of this has to do with YEN against the pound but also demand...
If I had to choose but, and I wanted guaranteed return.

993 carrera 2
NSX
R32 GTR

Iirc... A clubman spec car with 6k miles on that was an ex- press car sold for over 80k sterling in the last year. A friend has 3 complete competition cars that I know are in excess of that as they all have competition history. The engine alone on one of his cars is worth over 30k.

Also the Wurth car up in Rally Ireland was up for sale a year ago and I gather it had an asking price in excess of 100k sterling.

probably buy Kens rb320 thats up on carzone , 21k so bit over budget , but would imagine it'd would be a sought after car in 20 years time , or there is even a hatch sti up for 24k , with the limited numbers of either car on these shores on irish plates could make them future classics , i know its way more in the future than most other cars listed but trying to think outside of the box
