i had a mate whose throttle cable snapped in his van away from home , so he had to tie a string to it under the bonnet ,feed it through the window , and pull it every time he needed to accelerate , can t imagine it was easy but it got a great laugh outta me when i pictured it ( mag-iver eat your heart out )
