€1043 per year for my 2007 2.5 STI...

€2350 per year for the same car registered from mid 2008 onwards....

Sure... "correcting" mileage reading on a car is fully legal here in Ireland...
So, the NCT records it... you do 30k kms... and just before you go back in for the NCT renewal you get your local "mileage correction specialist" to set it back to having done ony 10k kms. Job done...

You could put the charge on the fuel... that would be the fairest way to do it. You'd pay more, or less, depending on the mileage you do and the kind of car you drive. Of course... we already have a significant fuel laundering and diluting / quality problem and I am sure significantly increasing the price of the fuel will not improve matters either.

The system they want will only hurt the likes of us, do not sign it!
Yes it could be changed for the better but this isnt the way. Include the tax in the fuel is the way to go.

But whatever happens its still a farce considering the condition of the roads will never improve and they say they'll run out of money to maintain the roads in a few years.

the 530d cost me 422 every 3 months
id tax it the year but you cant claim back anymore
and im afraid il decide to change or car shits its self
but costs me a extra 194 euro for the privilege of not risking all my money as it now cant be claimed back witch is a disgrace

I miss the days of getting car tax forms stamped in Garda station saying it was off the road !!

Have declared my 530d off the road online then after two months tax it for 3 ... Takes the sting out of €422

Tax should be put on fuel , a years tax worth more than the car can not be right !!
