Car wash in Dublin

Howdy.

I used to wash the car myself but since moving to dublin, it's no longer possible. Can anyone suggest a decent car wash thats not going to make a dogs dinner of the paint. Now, it's by no means show car perfect but I dont trust the automated jobbies and I dont want to go somewhere and they start washing the car with a brush.

Does such an establishment exist? I have seen topics about places doing the full treatment but it's not necessary at the moment. Just a simple ould wash!!

Cheers

What part of dublin are you in? i use a place on the greenhills road, its a drive in service where you stay in the car, they spray your wheels, rinse the car down then snow foam it and hand wash with a sponge and rinse it again and all for 7 euro i use them on a daily basis getting customers cars washed and i cant fault them, i think they open till 10 pm as well

They also have a place in clonskeagh opposite the mosque also ever ready in donnybrook would be close to you

That place seems to do very good job . Is it still open 24 hours a day I wunder

Just be careful with some of the places that handwash. Some of them use acid based cleaning agents aa

Prestige are good and it's good value for money but so is Elite and I've had that many run ins with prestige staff being rude or unhelpful that I will never give them my business anymore.

Thanks a million chaps! Just checked out the Elite website there and they do a straightforward wash. Nice one :049:

Fuckin paint is cracked where it hit the door. Fuckers! 10 euro wash is grand but not perfect. I needed to go over the windows again when I got him as they were covered in streaks . its way too far away from me aswell. Car is filthy by the time I got home with all the roadworks around and shite on the roads. I asked him to check my paint as i was interested in some paint correction and he said the clear coat on a lot of panels was too low so he wouldnt go near them with a polisher! More of a reason for that respray!

What were the depth readings on the paint Dan?
[/quote]

Some were about 40 microns or whatever the measurement is they use

Were they estimating the clear coat at 40microns after taking a paint depth gauge to it and getting a total depth to metal of 120-150microns?

I think it could have been 40 in total. I'm not sure. Laquer is breaking down on 2 panels and my bonnet has been resprayed at some point he says!

I doubt it Dan, if you were down to 40microns, you'd be already through the clearcoat and probably through the colour coat into the primer at 40microns total thickness. If you're bonnet has been sprayed, then it would show a minimum of 200microns, more likely closer to 250microns and a lot more if there's a skim of filler anywhere on it.

I only ask out of interest to see if he just measured the standard, notoriously thin subaru paint, and maybe decided he wouldn't chance it.

If he was estimating clearcoat at 40microns, thats more than enough to work with and get a high level of correction.
